Well the final nail in the coffin for Speed I called bell to cancel my subscription this morning when I came to watch practice only to see a Program Blackout Notice.
SPEED MARCH 2009 BLACKOUT SCHEDULE for F1 (in Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean)
26-Mar Practice Australia GP 01:30-03:00ET Canada
27-Mar Qualifying Australia GP 02:00-03:30ET Canada
28-Mar Pre-Race & Race Australia GP 01:30-04:00ET Canada
29-Mar Encore Australia GP 15:30-17:00ET Canada
How far Speedvision has fallen since the golden days of Super Touring, WRC and MotoGP racing. Now all we are left with is the knuckle draggers of Nascar, bull run and pimp my ride.
Now what to do with the extra $8 per month.

It was on (I have the overpriced Cogeco), and I watched some of the practice early this morning. I agree...way too much Nascar on Speed.

Have to agree with Zoban.... for about $150 you could get FTA and watch it, until they change the encryption... which is soooooooooon.

I realized years ago that there really was nothing I found interesting on tv so I canceled everything and haven't looked back.

Its frustrating.... I know, I had to order another package this year just so I could watch it when speed had blackouts.

I watch it on TSN, although I don't like the broadcasters, but what can I do? Speed broadcasters are way better IMO.

Heading that way soon myself...
With all the digital capabilities today, why can't they offer "Alacarte" programming?! I would happily pay $20/mo. for the 10-15 channels I actually want to watch! I REFUSE to pay $70-120/mo. for 250 channels I DON'T want!!
I watch enough movies on the DVD player, or downloads on the computer that I really don't use the "TV" channels much at all anymore.

I just don't watch live events.. It is guaranteed to be recorded and posted in a torrent or newsgroup if you happened to miss the broadcast...
I have a 10Mbps at home.. so missing an episode of a show or something isn't really an issue..
blackouts always annoyed me.. as I am sure everyone else.
And on that note, gotta get ready to head into toronto to pickup my "popcorn hour" I bought yesterday. (www.popcornhour.com A-110 FTW!!!)
