Hey guys. I was trying to figue out what version of Challenger I saw on the street. I'm 99.9% sure it had stripes on it, and from the Dodge web site, it looks like the SRT8 was the only one that came with stripes. Is that correct, or does the R/T come with stripes too? Thanks!

RT has the stripes from the edge of the hood down the fender a bit. SRT has dual stripes down the middle of the hood

Cool...it was a SRT8 then. Thanks!

You can purchase after market, any type of stripe, including the SRT stripe for the RT. The only way for quick recognition would be the 6.1 HEMI on the hood scoops, the flat black rear trunk spoiler or the red break calipers. Anyone know of any other differences please chime in

I agree with all the above, but 6 months ago you could be positive it was a SRT-8... now there are tons of aftermarket things that could give anyone that look now.

The front spoiler is also a little different as it has the openings for the brake ducts, the badges on the front grill and tail spoiler, plus the Alcoa wheel will distinguish it from the SE and RT's.

Easiest way to tell is to look at the owner. If he looks like he could use a few extra bucks, he is probably the owner of a SRT8:Na_Na_Na_Na:

Thats funny!! Not all SRT8's have stripes though... you can get the stripes delete option and save $250 when ordering.

If you can see them the Brembo's is a very good indication of SRT. At $4K not many will go aftermarket on this !

Well, that blows...thanks for the info guys. Once we stopped and chatted, I didn't think to take a closer look. At that time, I don't even think I knew that there was an R/T and SRT. I'll have to see if I can track the guy down and find out for sure. I just hate to have my facts wrong either way when talking about racing someone. I need to find my high quality videos again and look at them to see if I can figure it out.
Hindsight is 20/20.
Nice to learn about the cars...stopped off at a local dealer with my daughter and they had two R/Ts, a white and a blue one. The blue one looks really nice...don't care for the white. I stopped because at a glance I thought the white one had dealer installed fake fender vents. I was going to ask them what the *#$% they were thinking? Instead, it had the R/T stripes on it like the orange one above.

Watch out for some of the SE that are upbadged to RT or SRT versions, some dealers were doing that around here. Also they will add stripes and spoilers or even wheels and try to sell them as something other than an SE to fool buyers. I went to our dealer here last weekend and saw 2 black SE with body stripes, one in white and one in black, they looked sharp. One guy was looking at them thinking they were RT's and I had to point out some of the differences, big one being no RT on the grill. Poor guy didn't know the difference and just bought a Mustang V6. Just look around the various sites or Dodge website and it'll show you the differences.:beerchug:

This was no SE for sure. It hung in there pretty good, and the guy said he'd beaten three GTOs with it. Maybe tomorrow I'll have to try to upload a still or two, but they will be from video and not very high res. From the video, it has a spoiler on the back...appears to be black. (car was silver). Also the wheels look different...like "angled" instead of the flat looking ones (like my goat) shown on the R/T above.
Oh...saw an orange R/T on the way home tonight too :D

Just found it...looked EXACTLY like this one on the dodge web site, wheels and all.
I think it is the sharpest looking one I've seen so far...but I'd still have to buy a black one. Just because.

Yeah i was gonna say if he kept up with your modded goat, and said he took three other gtos it would be an srt. Those gtos arent any slouches even if they were so dissaproved as far as the looks went. (Dont worry, wana pick one up myself as a daily in a couple years when i feel i put too many miles on my challenger.)

My buddy had one I think it was an 04 or 05 model and got to ride init and yea it did have some balls. He got rid of it though as he wanted a Mustang but said he couldn't pass up on that one for the price they were asking. I think that car ran in the mid 13's in Denver. Not sure what mods he did to it. There's a few of them running around here where I am too, just too bad on the styling otherwise they are pretty good performers.

For the record, I didn't say he kept up. It wasn't a fair fight though. And I am not one of those people who get all butt hurt when people talk about the RWD Grand Am I drive. I went out looking for a Bonneville or Acura, drove the GTO on a whim, and instantly fell in love. I hope everyone hates the GTO so I can pick up another one cheap when I drive the wheels off this one...I'm at 90,000 miles now :beerchug:
