Hey guys, I thought I'd start fishing around for interest in our next meet. Any dates that absolutely don't work for anyone? I was still thinking of having it here at my place, I live about 15 miles NW of DIA, and I'll provider the food and beverages(byob :) ). We could also have it up in the mountains or somewhere else if you guys want.
COCharger any word on your delivery date yet? I can't wait to see your new ride! Lets do a roll call too, I think we've added a couple new CO members since our last meet so it would be nice to get everyone on the list!

No new news. The order is still in BG status as of today. I have heard from others in the same situation as me that DCX does their build scheduling the first week of the month for the following month. I have my fingers crossed that if this is what they do, I might/maybe/hopefully will get in on the September build schedule. Its getting pretty frustrating sitting here day after day and not knowing what the real hold up is. DCX sucks a big one in the customer order information arena.
At this rate, I am almost ready to see if I can make a contingency order for a Daytona without the protection package, or even just an R/T with the R&T performance group. I have been seeing those start to trickle through the process.
My biggest fear right now is that if I get held up and not built in September, will the 4000 Go Mango's be all built out and mine never come to reality. I don't know how DCX handles a situation like that. Do they build the first 4000 orders that reach D status or do they count ALL orders no matter the status? I have a sold order for one, but if they never build it I don't know what happens. Would drive a steak into my heart to have sat here for several months to end up not getting one just because DCX had a part supplier snaffu.
That sucks... has DC even started shipping the Daytona's out yet?

Yes, have heard of a few going out. But I ordered mine with an option that seems to be problematic and is holding things up.

Woohoo!
My dealer called today and my car is now offically a car, it has a VIN#. The order status is in D (firm schedule, dealer has allocation and all parts are available). This means that the build is eminent and I am looking at a late August or early September delivery (not holding my breath on that until I get confirmation that the build has actually commenced). I am calling DCX tomorrow to see if I can get a clearing picture of the estimated dates.

Hello Jim and CO-Charger. Good to hear from both of you. The only weekend day in August that is totally shot is Saturday, August 13. Have to work in AM and going to a dinner in PM. Other than that things are not bad. Let me know what I can bring to the party. Look forward to hearing from you. Hope that Charger gets to you soon, CO-Charger. Talk to you soon. - Walt

Jim, have you seen any posts from Fitzmag lately? I haven't heard from him in awhile. Hope all is well with you. Later.
Nope I haven't, and Theweeb has dropped down a bit lately too. Hopefully they are both still checking things out and can make it.

Bump bump, keep me in the loop (pm when a date is firm, as there are hundreds of posts here now) Friday or Saturday work best for me, and I am still inclined to motor up to Estes Park, perhaps stop at the Stanley Hotel (REDRUM!) for a drink and then wander into Rocky Mountain National Park for some motoring along Trail Ridge Road.

Good to hear from you, John. I was up in Estes Park back in May with the Magnum. Drove past the Stanley when we went cabin camping at the YMCA camp outside Estes Park. I don't think the people in Estes had seen a Magnum before. More stares than usual. Was a family thing, we had a great time. Didn't do Trail Ridge though, came back down I-25. Trail Ridge closed while we were up there, snow in May!!!

Just a quick note to the Colorado folks. Got news on Friday that as of 08/25, the Daytona is now in D2. Which means the order has entered the Brampton AP system and the build is eminent. But its still several weeks off. Once it is built and released from Brampton, it has to make its way down to Windsor's "Groud Effects" plant for graphics and external additions (chin and tail spoilers). Once that is done, then it is on the rail to Denver and into my hands.
Sweet, I've been itching to get a M&G organized. Since the Charger is still most likely 2 months out by the time you take delivery why don't we just go ahead an do a meet now and then when you get it in we'll organize another one?
I know last time I said I would host the M&G at my place but I was thinking that with it being this time of year the leaves are going to be changing and the drive over Trailridge up in Estes is just gorgeous. My wife and I have made that drive before and it would be most of a day to meet up in Denver and loop it around. We could also loop out to Breckenridge or Steamboat and stay the night and loop around the next day, that is a fun drive. I know its hard to coordinate schedules for that big a trip but I thought I'd throw it out there. Of course we would probably need to bring along our significant other to justify a trip that long to them! ;)
What do you guys think? If we can't organize it I think we should try to do one of the open track nights at Bandimere. They have open track nights on Wednesday's though Sept and the first one of October. More info here:
http://www.bandimere.com/events/event_detail.php?eventID=175
$30 for racers and $10 for spectators.
What do you guys think? Maybe start throwing out dates for Sept? I think I'm open except for next weekend.

OPEN TRACK NIGHT! Excited and nervous at the same time! A completely new experience, I am in. Is it $30 per run? I have never launched from a tree, have no idea what to do. Suggestions? Any idea where I can practice? It would be cool to hang out and watch the runs as well. Is there beer there?
Haha. . .
Its 30 bucks to get in the gate and you can run as many times as you can loop through the line up. I've never run at a track before either so I have no idea how it works... maybe we should start a thread and ask for a run down.

Hey guys, there is no big secret to a drag race start using the (christmas) tree. I am sure you've seen them but let me give a quick description. There are seven total lights. Starting at the top you have two yellow staging lights. Below the staging lights are three more yellow lights. These are your count down or sequence lights. The last two lights are the green and the red lights. I am sure you know, green mean GO and red means "you blew it buddy".
How you work the tree is simple. The two staging lights are there so that both racers start at the very same postion (front tire postion). The starting line has to two light beams that when unbroken the tree lights remain off. As you roll up to the starting line, do it slowly. As your tire breaks the first beam at the beginning of the start line, the top light will illuminate. Brake and then ever so slightly let the car roll forward an inch or two. This should break the second beam and you should then have both staging lights lit up. This mean your tire is directly on the starting line and you are ready to race.
As soon as both racers are staged, the starter (the guy stand by your car with the start switch) will begin the count down sequence. When he flips the switch the three yellow lights will illuminate from top to bottom in 0.5 second intervals. This mean you have 1.5 seconds from when the first yellow lights up until the green lights. (Y1 +.5 +Y2 +.5 +Y3 + .5 G) If you are good at timing and rythm the three yellows will give you ample time to nail the green. But do not jump too soon or you red light and your run is disqualified (you lose the race automatically). Reaction time is the measurement of time from when the green light turns on to when the back (top) yellow staging light goes out. If you get a reaction time of 0.5 or less you're doing good. Average will most likely be above 0.75 and probably close to 1 second.
One hint on pre-staging. Since you will most likely be in street tires, do not drive thru the waterbox. Drive around it. If you want to do a burn out, back up to the edge of the waterbox and give it a quick powerbrake.
Let the thread discussion commence. :)

More news, on Thursday my dealer called and the car is now complete and in the rail system. It should arrive in Rolla, CO (that Commerce City railyards) on 09/07 and be truck delivered to JE Dodge Southwest on 09/16. Its strange that it take another 9 days for it to go from Commerce City to Littleton, but I guess thats how they schedule things. Good news is that the dealer said they are going to put a hot delivery on the car so it "should" be at their dealership on 09/10!!! Thats next Saturday!! Damn, I can't wait.

They received a orange Daytoma RT last Thursday, so I knew yours was getting close as well. I remember the excitement I had when I was shopping for my Magnum. You're gonna love the car!!! Time to set up the next meet!!!
P.S. - I bought the Magnum from Southwest Dodge. They are a fine dealership, fair prices and friendly people. Good choice!!!
Awesome news! How does the weekend of the 24th or the 1st sound to everyone? Or we could do one of the Wednesday night race nights as our next meet, just hook up for grub somewhere and cruz over.

Good choice!!!BTW if any of you are up north, Northglenn Dodge (I-25/104th Ave, 1/4 mile west of highway) has TWO Daytonas on their lot. I knew of one from the wife driving by (and a PM from JIM), but I stopped in tonight and saw another one as well. The one they had out in front was nearly identical to the one I ordered (this one I think was missing the Sound Group II option). The salesmen came out and after telling him I already had on ordered, he tried to convince me to cancel it and buy this one... yeah right. I wouldn't even step foot on their lot had it not been for the Daytona and wanting my first up close look at one. I knew they could never meet the deal I got, so I just said no thanks, and he slinked away. Bwwaaahahah!! Felt good to stuff one of their salesmen.
As far as Dodge SW goes, I am truely happy with the guy I am dealing with. He's kept me informed and it seems his friendly attitude is genuine. I guess it helped that the deal I got with them was based on my wife's company having a B2B relation with them as well. Either way he's made this order ordeal a somewhat nice transaction even though its been nearly three months in the making.
As far as the 24th for a M&G, will have to verify schedules with the wife so that I don't commit to anything that will conflict. So keep me informed of whats being planned.

The weekend of the 24th looks pretty good with two exceptions. I work until 1 PM on Saturday the 24th, but am available afterwards. Sunday, the 25th I have softball at 9 PM, but I'm avalable before softball. Wednesday nights I get off work (in Littleton) at 5 PM but I have to pick up my son from football at 7 PM. I could meet you guys at Bandimere at about 7:30. I probably wouldn't run the SXT down the track, but would love to watch and take some pictures. Everyone throw out your suggestions and the times you're available so this will be easier. Looking forward to seeing everyone!!!
Well we have plans for the evening of the 24th so I guess that date is out... John is your schedule always Sunday - Thursday? Maybe we should look to the weekend of the 1st? I don't have anything on my calendar for that weekend so I'm open to what ever.

Hey, good to see this dialogue is still going on! Jim, yes on the Sunday - Thursday schedule. I would really like to get this thing to the track. It looks like there are three dates left: Oct-05-2005 Sep-28-2005 Sep-21-2005. What do you think about the 28th? I could bag work early and be there when the gates open at 4. As for a larger meet, I will be at the Lake City wine festival the weekend of the 23rd. I will be in Denver on October 1st for the Great American Beer Festival at the convention center. Do you want to work something in around or with that? Friday the 30th is way open as well.

TA DA!!
Its finally mine!
After a extremely "slow boat to china" railcar trip, the car reached the dealer Friday. I took the afternoon off and the wife met me there and we did the paper signing and swapping of keys (traded in my Intrepid). I haven't stopped smiling and the kids are laughing about all the folks driving by or turning their head to get a look at this thing. Although not quite as "vocal" at idle as I would like, it certainly growls nicely when you get on it.
Jim as mentioned meeting at Bandimere's this coming weekend, which is fine with me. However, I will be just watching and rooting since the car is still new and I don't want to push it just yet. Will be getting sime photos up soon as well.

CO-Charger, I'm glad you finally got the Charger. I'm sure it was worth the wait. Can't wait to see it in person. The weekend of the 1st for me is fairly open as well, Not working on Saturday the 1st, and softball isn't until 8PM on Sunday the 2nd. Friday the 30th, I get off at 3PM so after that is pretty good also. Can't wait to see everyone. Let's rock!!!
Bandimere is on Wednesdays not weekends and I John and I were thinking about doing it on the 28th. I think that works for me so I'll let John just confirm one more time. I think he's wanting to bug out of work early and meet there at 4 when the gates open but you guys can show up when ever you want. That shouldn't be a problem for me John.

For Bandimere (just to watch), the 28th seem to fit for me as well. As for OCt 1st, son's hockey practice is at 0500 (yes that 5 AM!), anything for the rest of the day should be fine as long as the wife hasn't already planned something. I assume M&G's are family oriented.

Hello to one and all. If I had known there was a Colorado Owners Forum, I would have posted sooner. In June, I took ownership of a 2005 Magnum R/T. Had 29 miles on it, of which I had driven 16 test driving it. I love the look of the car, the way it handles and the ride. The HEMI is the best part. Went from driving a 260 HP Chevy Caprice to a 340 HP Dodge Magnum R/T. (Still have the Caprice). Anyway, I live in Trinidad, Las Animas County, and work weekends, although I am due some time off. Would love to get together on the 1st of October. Would be a good weekend to go driving the Highway of Legends through Stonewall, La Veta and Cuchara to check out the changing Aspens.
Well, let me know on what is up. Would also love to check out the beer fest...
Thanks,

Its just after 1300, I just got off the phone with Bandimere's and the lady there said they wait until about 3:00pm to make a decision about if they go on with the event tonight. She also said it doesn't look good. Guess I will call back around 4:00pm to see what happening.

What he said.
Well I think theres more people available in the afternoon than morning from what was said the other night so I guess we should do a late lunch. I have plans that night so I can't do anything past like 4. I was thinking we could meet at Jim's Burger Haven at like 1:30 or 2:00. Foods good and theres always a chance of running into some other clubs there. There's one on Sheridan at 78th or one on Washington at 88th. Any preference or another idea for where to meet?

2:00pm works for me. Either place since I am sort of in between them both. 88th & Washington would be closer to those of you east of I-25.
If no one objects, when we have a firm place and time I will post it over on ChargerForums.com and invite other locals to join us.

You guys take plenty of pictures! I will raise a glass of ale at 2:00 in honor of the Denver area LX Owners!
Mine goes into the dealer on Tuesday for the gas pedal, bumper rubbing on tailgate, floor mat wear, and CEL. Wish me luck on getting the CEL fixed without hassle!

Hey Jim that's a good suggestion. I grew up on Jim's Burger Haven and they have great burgers! If I could pick, I would say the one on Sheridan because it's closer to me but either will work. 1:30 to 2:00 works well for me.

Either location works for me. 1:30 or 2:00 are both good for me, I am free all afternoon. I vote for 2:00 at Jim's Burger Haven on 78th and Sheridan. All in favor say "AYE"...LOL...I'll be checking back tomorrow AM for the final decision. See ya'll tomorrow. - Walt

Hi Colorado Magnum owners, it's nice to see some magnum enthusiasts around here. I live by Franktown and Castle Rock and its rare to see any magnums around here. But I guess everybody lives up North.

I third or um... AYE... something like that... so I guess 2PM at 78th and Sheridan it is!
