anybody changed their own inner tie rods?

I have a bad inner tie rod end and really dint want to take it to the local dealer. Has anyone here done their own change out? The outers are pretty easy but it looks like the inners take a special tool. I have several inner tie rod removal tools but it doesn't look like they will work. I have put out an Sos to fnkychkn. Any suggestions before I throw in the towel? :banghead:
