Need some Wheel and Tire Advice.....Not From Discount Tire!

Wheels: Boss 304's in a 22x9.5 16mm offset

Tires: Goodyear Eagle GT 265/35/R22

Problem: The tires rub most of the time I am doing anything other than driving in a straight line. Discount Tire has admitted that they did not check to make sure that there was enough room to fit this wheel/tire combo with a 16mm offset. They are now telling me that I have to go with a smaller tire which makes the price jump about $100 per tire, or select a different wheel and tire package.

Question: Will a spacer fix my problem? If not is there an alternative because I don't want a different sytle wheel and I don't want to get a 20" in the same wheel.

My tires rub right at the corner of the tire where the sidewall meets the tread of the tire. It rubs so bad that I was told that it could cause a blowout if I kept driving it.

I feel you pain because I just went through it, but there is a fix.

It's the tires.

I'm running 265/35/22 Goodyear Eagles too and had the same problem. My wheels are +18, the tires are 265/35/22, by all accounts that combo should fit, but it doesn't because of the tires.

The tires look cool, but are clearly wider and different from most other makes.

I fixed mine with 3mm spacers, and a little (I mean a little) grinding on the steering knuckle right where it rubs. You can tell where it rubs if you remove the tire because you'll see it I shaved off maybe 1mm or so just in the area it rubbed.

BTW, my tires and wheels came from Discount as well.

I just put some 22" eagle GT's on my RT and im getting a rub on the drivers side at the edge of the fender well when I go over bigger bumps. I think I can just roll the fender up a little and it wont catch. Discount tire told me that these would fit perfect, they were wrong.

Yeah, I think it's clear that the Goodyear Eagle GT in 265/35/22 should not be used on our cars. It's too bad because they look cool and are priced right, but they are wider and or shaped differently enough to cause rubbing issues when normally it wouldn't happen with most tires of the same listed size.

find out what your backspace is , its as important as your offset. your wheels should of had closer to 20mm offset with 5.5-maybe 6 back space. you should be ok by adding a 3mm to 7mm spacer if the backspace is ok. that offset you have is closer to a Mustangs offset then Chargers. IMO

89grand i see you have Torque Thrusts , the same as my cars , they have the 20mm offset and 5.5 back space thats why they fit so good.
