Alright, well at 55,000kms these stupid goodyears are almost done... 215/65/r17 What should I buy as replacement. I'm keeping the stock look, as I like it a lot, plus it's an SXT, c'mon! lol... Anyways, where do I go from here... Leaving for South Carolina in a week and want to get these replaced... Now I need a good all season cuz there's still a bit of snow here... Let me know guys and gals, thanks...

What kind of price range are you looking at? What performance level do you need?

Have you checked the online tire sellers for ideas? Discount Tire, Tire Rack, etc...

By the way... mine is also "just" an SXT... I run autocross and the occasional road course with it, too!

Ya i thought about that too, but think it needs more power to push such a heavy car, anyways, that would be another post... LOL.. I like things cheap, but i know it's what my life depends on, so won't be cheap if need be. I do a lot of highway, and stick with pavement (the truck is for the mud :D) However, i have checked tire rack and stuff, so I'm gonna call local tire shops around here tomorrow. Just wondering what a good 'replacement' tire would be...

deville, check out the General Altimax RT's and the Dunlop Signature's. You could use the 225/60R/ 17" size also I would think. I have run the Dunlop's on my RT Magnum in 18" dia. They are decent touring tires and wear well, not high performance tires, however.

Ok thanks for the advice i'll check it out, i mean, is there really an 'all season performance tire' out there? I don't think so... It's a daily driver, that I don't expect to do any hardcore cornering wiht or anything, maybe down the road i'll get an R/T or a SRT8 even, then i'll start looking for performance, but for now, a tire that wears well, good in all ON ROAD weather conditions... Thanks...

Stay away from the General Altimax RT if you will be seeing any snow. I bought them to replace the OEM Goodyear Integritys on my '06 Impala. I have had them on my front-wheel drive Impala for the past 11,000 miles and they are terrible in winter conditions.

They are very quiet and ride well. They are also great in the rain. However, they are very "allergic" to freezing temperatures and snow/ice. They will spin/slide on roads covered in road salt even if the road is dry.

In fact, I am replacing them before next winter with BFGoodrich Traction T/A's even though the Generals will only have about 23,000 total miles on them.

Look at the Goodyear Eagle ResponseEdge tires, they are a great 50K touring tire. You can get 215/55R/17 or 225/55R/17. I have these tires on my RT and I like them very much. For a touring tire, they have a high performance feel; I have pushed these tires very hard.

Well, as much as I like the look of the ResponseEdge tires, i don't htink they'll suit my needs when it comes to the possibilty of snow/ice i may run into before the winter season is over... I'm thinking traction TA's but will being going to the tire shop this aft... Now when it comes to the size difference, that, over all will give me a somewhat smaller tire, therefore worse on fuel econonmy but better on preformance... So.. errr, too many options...

Ok, well the tire shop convinced me of the Bridgestone Turanza el400 but now after reading reviews, this tire has some bad reviews, but the reviews only seem to be coming from the people who had them factory on their new vehicle. I'd like everyone else's opinion please...
