The CustomMagnums folks have been talkin about a Meet In the Middle kinda deal In the Wichita area(not in stone, but thats the goal). Sometime in the summer of 2010. I know that's a ways out, but that gives us plenty of time to set something up RIGHT.

That would be great to have a BIG event close here :)

We did the SRT Nationals in 2006 at the Heartland Park Topeka, KS
2.5 mile road course
Autocross
1/4 mile NHRA track
Car show
I even have the contact info for who organized it.
It was awesome, if y'all had it there I would make the trip again.

ummm, the Country? :thumbs_u:
It's the closest major city from the real middle and about as centered as it gets. Myself and a few other guys were asked to get the ball rolling on it and I suggested that our club get involved and get a HUGE event started that was open to ALL other LX/LY clubs? Since it would basically be on our turf to begin with. So yeah, Wichita is he city, and It's gonna be summer of 2010. Gives plenty of time to plan/setup. Just asking everyone if they are ok with Our club being the center of it?

X2... I figure that KC is central enough to not matter a couple hours one way or the other, and the KC metro area has much more to offer in the way of facilities and things mentioned in the post above to make it a much better choice... Around Wichita, well there's Wichita... unless you're also counting the discount mall at Newton and it isn't really a part of the Wichita area anyway - not that I'd be interested in shopping for clothes when I go to a car show anyway...
Not to pick it apart but really now, why Wichita and not KC?

A BIG event needs to be held at a track somewhere...IMO If you want people to travel much like the LX Nationals in Ohio you need a track...I did the SRT experience at heartland park in Topeka and that would be a great track but there's not much else to do in topeka after the show that I know of...

There isn't jack SH!t to do in Perry, Georgia after the SE Shindig but you still have people drive from Texas, California...hell people even fly in from California to come to it.... if there is a hotel with a big enough parking lot we will have plenty to do :)
1st Round is on me.

That's true. When I went the Car Craft Street Machine Nationals (back in '83 & '84), it was 5000 entrants in a fairground in Springfield Illinois. There was no race track or anything, but it was an absolute blast! http://myrcmt.com/review/images/gallery/albums/userpics/10015/thumbs.gif

need I say more? LOL, JKJK, i just never get to use that
We picked Wichita because its THE closest to the true center, and because GreenKing knows alot of folks over here and is willing to help me set this thing up.

I really like the track idea, I think it would be an added bonus.
Either way, I'd like to meet up with everyone.
2010 is a long way off, so for now everyone rally to the Mopar Show Off in April.
lol.

I have to chime in on this thread. Chris, I think it's great that you're trying to set something up for Summer of 2010. :beerchug: Since you are asking for our opinion as a club, here is mine.
I feel that weather or not we like where a meet will be, as a member of LX Central we should be supportive of what each other is trying to do. I don't know if I could make it to Wichita for a meet in 2010. But, if I can make it, I'll be there to represent LX Central. I know that not everyone will be able to make all meets that are held, but we can at least be more supportive toward the members who are trying to put them together. I know, from first hand experience, that it's very time consuming & sometimes difficult to put something together like this. So I, for one, will be supportive of what Chris is trying to do, weather I can make it or not.
That is just MY opinion. I don't expect anyone else to agree or disagree with me. I just wanted to chime in on this subject. :)

It is early enough in the planning to see a change in plans....
Look I am saying the addition of more items... LIKE A ROAD RACE TRACK, would make people more interested in going.
I will let it be, you can have a meet that 50 local people come to or one 400 national people come to.
Your Choice.

I am with Nathan on this. I won't come unless there is at least a dragstrip.

I was joking with what I said about not caring, and you are completely right on the track part of it, I'm ok with the Idea, and kinda like the idea, We just need the time to see if we can make it happen. There's a drag strip in Wichita, there's Heartland in Topeka, and KCIR in KC... these are all Ideas we've been tossing around.... I'll get with some folks and make some phone calls to try to see about prices for renting some places out....
