Hello I need everyone's help. I am the owner of a 15 magnum rt. 6 months ago the transmission startrd slipping after leaving my driveway one day. Being only 3 miles from my local dealer and being covered by my 6 yr 60,000 extended mile warranty (by 12 miles) ( my car had 59,988 mi) I immediately drove at 29 mph through back streets to the dealership where i was told that they hooked it up to the starscan and the transmission speed control sensor was bad and needed to be replaced and leave the car with them (which i did) later that day i recieved a call that said the tech. found "burnt" transmission fluid (their words) and that I would need to pay 100+ dollars for because it was not covered under the extended warranty, so i did. 2 days later I picked up the car and before i got home ( 3 miles mind you) the ececk engine light came back on so i turned around and went back to the dealer where they hooked it up to starscan and if flashed an incorrect gear ratio code. so he re-flashed the transmission again and it went away. Forward to today. I an leaving the house to go to work and as soon as I pull out of the driveway the transmission starts to slip and wont go into 2nd gear. So I call work and check the internet where it says to let the car warm up in cold weather (about 25deg. this morning) I strat the car and let it warm up for 20 min b-4 leaving for the dealership (Again 3 miles away) this time it will go into 2nd if i baby the throttle, but even the slightest puch of the pedel and it slippes completely out of gear and the engine revs. the only way i can keep going is come to a stop wait a few seconds and start again slowly. Well i recieve a call this evening from the Svc. dept. and she says that her transmission tech looked at it and determines that it needs a new transmission. I ask her what the Svc tech determined the problem was and she said that they havent cracked open the case yet to give me an exact diaignosis but that its nothing external and that it needs a new transmission to the tune of $3500.00 and that she could quote me on a rebuild but she said they dont last and its not worth the money difference. I know that there are some dealership svc techs. on this board. and was wondering if driving a car at 20 mph for 3 miles with only a speed control sensor wrong, after any sign of slipping will cause the transmission fluid to be burnt, or should the dealership looked harder at it 6 months ago when it was in warranty. I know dealerships have to do repairs at a reduced rate when charging chrysler or any other extended warranty provider. I tried calling chrysler but just got some guy in india that told me since i am the 2nd owner and did not pay 150.00 within 30 days of purchase that the powertrain warranty was not in effect. I would have done this because i was concerened about the powertrain at the dealership. However Alexander chrysler in Franklin Ky, did not tell me about this option as they knew that I would not have bought the extended warranty as I did.
Any Help anyone can give me, especially from Factory Svc. Techs. would be greatly appreciated as I am now divorced paying alamony (unhappily), and Child support (Gladly) I can not afford 3500.00 plus tax, I simply don't have it would be greatly appreciated .
Signed,
