Well I probably should have waited for the M&G to let you guys see it but I don't have that kind of patience so here it is! The sun is already gone so you can't see the carbon fiber very well but you will definitely see it when the sun hits it.

They weren't to sure about making a rear spoiler for you but they said they could make the chin spoiler if you gave them yours to make a mold out of. They didn't give a price on that but I paid $880 for my hood installed. You can get one but you have to wait in line behind MrSmith now!

So how might lighter is that hood compared to the stock SRT hood?
MR-SMITH
02-06-2009, 08:10 PM
Not a clue about weight. Niether the stock R/T hood or the Carbon Fiber one was that heavy.

I'm just not sharing because Ryan told me to mess with Mark whenever possible and I know it is getting to him! But really the place is in North Knoxville very close to my house. They are Malibu Customz and they have a full body shop and they make quite a few different fiberglass parts. The guys seem very cool there! They said if we get a few things together as a group they could give us a group price on some stuff.
Here is their site:

Now everyone quit crying! lol

Well if you want carbon fiber for weight reduction this is not your place!! This hood is thick fiberglass on the bottom and they have alot of reinforcement in it and the hood latch is connected to a big piece of quarter inch thick steel! I am pretty sure the hood is slightly heavier then my stock hood by the way it feels when I open it. Some people would probably be upset by this but I would rather have a well built hood the slight weight difference doesn't really matter to me. I bought it for the look not for the weight.

Nice!!!!!!!!!!!!! Are you going to leave it all cf or paint part of it too?
MR-SMITH
02-07-2009, 07:44 AM
Seeing it in person I would suggest leaving it all carbon fiber. No paint.

Peter Parker

Yep, wondering if it was the same code as mine because that CF matches pretty close. Too bad they don't have a 300 mold :?:
I'm going to have to see it in person...

Yeah it was sitting perfect when I left the shop but it is up about a quarter inch on the passenger side so I will be out adjusting it today to try to get it perfect.

BSHAW, did you see the shop put the hood on? I also got a CBD CF Hood, and I can never get it to line up, and the front part of the hood is raised, and when driving it shakes
BSHAW27
02-07-2009, 05:32 PM
Well this wasn't made by CBD but I had to lower the hood at the hinge to get the front right corner down. The back part of the hood is a little lower then the fender because of it but you wouldn't notice if you weren't looking for it. The front shows alot more if it is off so I was just happy to get the corner down.

Hmmm...but the hinges should only control the hood going side to side, sliding up, and down.
That shouldn't be able to change the physical hood from raising, and getting lowered.
I didn't have alot of time to tinker with it, maybe 1.5 hours.
But I do understand what you are saying. I may have to go to shop, and see if they can do it for me.:modding:
What I don't get is why they make the hood adjustable...at the hinges. It should be just 1 small screw hole for the bolts to go through.

This is the bolt that I had to adjust to make it fit correctly. If you tighten this bolt it lowers the back corner of the hood and if you loosen the bolt it raises the back corner. The other thing I was told to adjust was the hood stops in the front corners but mine was raised above them so I knew they weren't causing the problem.
Good Luck!

Thanks...you would expect the hood stop to be high which would explain why one side is higher up...but it's low...or maybe I have to adjust the left side higher to compensate for the right.

If you press down on the front corner does it move or not? If not it could be the hood stoppers in the front pushing them up if the hinges are already low in the back? I also heard if the whole front is sitting too high you can lower the grabber in the front of the car slightly to make it pull the whole front end fo the hood down.

Yes, if I push down on it, it moves...I lowered the hood stop all the way prior to install. Hrmm, lower the grabber...I see what you mean. I'll look into that. It's frustrating trying to get this thing aligned.

Nah I honestly think the whole trunk in Carbon looks pretty stupid. I would get the spoiler if we both have one made when you get a new hood! lol You could buy that CBD one for sale on the forums and then drop off yours at the people I know in Jacksonville at the same time! lol
