Moving up in this world. Hey Bshaw did you decide on a hood yet?

BSHAW27

Man I am planning to go look at the carbon fiber one again when the weather clears up later this week and decide if I really like it or not. Probably have them put it on the hood of the car so I can get a good feel for how it will look.

Only problem is I might be buying some coilovers instead. I want the hood more then the coilovers but I can't pass up a good deal! lol

How much you getting the coilovers for and what kind? Remember install on the coilovers will probably be around $300-$400

Is he to pretty to do it his self? lol

Hell yeah I aint doing that myself! Man the coilovers are not 100% yet I am waiting to hear back from the guy he was checking shipping costs. But I know I will have to pay shipping and I will probably want to do sway bars at the same time so I will go very broke if I get them! lol

Personally, I'd do the coilovers first. No offense because I did it too (many of us have), but rolling around on 22's at stock height... Scary. I'd do the coilovers, hold off on the sway bars, and do those after the hood. You've already got some upgraded suspension linkage such as the factory sway bars with having the R&T package (equivalent to the SRT and police package) so I don't think you'd see a big difference by doing the sway bars at the same time. That's just my $.02.

Good info I was only going to do the sways because I figured I am already paying most of the labor doing the coilovers so it will be cheaper to do them all at once but I might take your advice and just do the coilovers so I don't have to wait as long to have all the money saved up.

I think shipping on the coilovers was about $60-$70 from Detroit via UPS.

Yeah the guy had them offered at a price with shipping included so we will see what he says. I offered less then he was asking for them so he was looking at shipping to decide if he wanted to take my offer or wait for someone else to buy them.

MR-SMITH

What kinda and how much?

They are the Mopar Coilovers which are exactly the same as the KW V1s. The guy was asking 1100 shipped for them but he just lowered his price last night to 1000 shipped so I offered him 900. They go for over 1500 at the stealership but you can buy the KWV1s for around 1300 plus shipping.

The guy is selling them brand new in box. Like I said he asked for my address earlier today so he is obviously considering it but if he doesn't take the offer I will just buy a hood instead.

Yeah looks like I may have spoke too soon I got a PM from him last night that says he has a deal for 1000 and if it falls through he will let me know. Oh well back to my hood search I guess.

Just get an SRT suspension.

BSHAW27
02-04-2009, 01:43 PM
Man I was thinking about it I even offered to buy the one ATL SRT was selling but I don't think it makes sense to pay 400 for a used suspension with 20k miles on it and then spend another 400 to get it installed when for 500 more I could get brand new coilovers on the car.

I see your point where you are coming from on your side of the argument. I'm just going to wait till I have enough in my account to do a UAS with Koni coilovers.

I still say do it yourself. Of course everyone has different capabilities and resources so that makes a huge difference but it doesn't take much. I know a guy, in Michigan unfortunately, that would swap that stuff out for $80 on the side because it's pretty quick. If you've got sockets up to an 18mm and a hammer, you can do it. I will admit, my first attempt, I ended up paying the $80 because I hadn't grown a big enough pair yet and couldn't bring myself to beating the crap out of my car to get it apart. Just think, $400 could get you a hood!

That's my boy!!!! If you get serious about it, let me know and I'll make sure you get taken care of. UAS is an AMAZING company to deal with and will never do you wrong plus their stuff can't be beat. You can have a little demo of what they offer on the 22nd. :thumbs_u:

I was the envy of LX Nationals and Beyond in Ohio this last summer because I was so much lower than everyone else. UAS is the only way you'll get there because they partnered with Koni to make those shocks specifically for their system. I've had experience with UAS on other shocks vs. the Konis and the Konis are worth every penny.

You were the one that convinced me about going the Koni coilovers with those pics I saw, I will definitly have to see how this is on the 22nd.

Nothing like the gratification of hitting switches and laying your ride out! Ok, maybe there are a couple things that are a little more gratifying... but not much. You can definitely make some heads turn.

You saying I'm not big time rolling on 22's anymore? I've seen a couple sets of 30's rolling around Nashville and I was thinking about some of those. What do you think? Trade my bags in for a set of off-road bags, cut the fenders, and add side steps so I can get in. It's doable.
