In Dec I posted another thread

No note or anything. dont know what hell happened but Im waiting now to get a hold of the rental office. typing this in an attempt to calm down.

there is taillight glass next to my fender and more down where I assume a car was parked that would have had to back into mine. Dont know how the hell it happened. The civic in the photo has a busted taillight as well. but He isnt the one that hit my car. the taillight is much smaller then the glass and the salt on his fenders hasnt been touched.

Only things I can think of is someone stole a car and back up trying to get away or that someone was spinning on ice backing up and suddenly got traction. or was realllllly drunk.

Im sure my insurance is going to screw me with another hit and run report with in a month.

***** Jan 30th New information ******

Going out to my car just now I meet a girl coming in who witnessed what happened last night.

Around 2:45 am she heard a man and woman screaming and fighting. The man was heard to say "Give me back my money" and I will slit your throat" The guy was screaming at the top of his lungs and the girl I was speaking with said their had to be 7 or more witnesses and she did call the police. The woman ran to the back corner of the lot where my car is as there is a hole in the fence. The guy chased her in a black jeep liberty. They fought up in the back corner near my car and the guy started kicking tail lights. He busted the taillights on the civic, the ranger plus another civic owned by the BF of the girl I was talking to.

Then as he was leaving he purposely revved the engine and smashed my car. Unfortunately my car is the nicest looking car in the lot and this guy was looking to cause maximum damage.

My hope now is that because its multiple cars and possibly an assault that the police might investigate the case further.

That's harsh!!! I'm sorry to see this! Hopefully the door can be straightened. The fender is $90, paint w/ the door blend will be about $300, maybe $250 to straighten the door... ouch :-(

Ouch, that hurts! Hope you took alot of pictures of the broken lens pieces, your car and the parking area.
Might want to keep an eye out on the cars parking there for damage or new body work.

Man, that really sucks.

My car has been hit twice too. One hit & run in a parking lot, and the other time rear-ended in traffic.

Sucks huge.

Sorry to see this.

Why did i think your car was light green?

Can't see the stolen car idea they wouldn't park it in the same spot.

Maybe the salt makes it look green? Its Brilliant black.

Only reason I thought stolen car is who else would back up that hard in a parking lot? It happened right where the photos taken

old trucks with high bumpers... just another lil scratch.
Some like to chalk up dogma for those rainy days some good karma would have come in handy.
I have chalked this up to their own strange way of paying it forward... freeing up more postive goodness for normal people.
by that, I totally dig dumb people.

So I come home from errands tonight at 17:00 and find this the parking lot

"Removed the photo as this guy is a victim as well"

The guy lives in my building I dont know him other then to say hey as we are coming and going in the halls. cant say it was him of course. could be that who ever smashed me also smashed into him. Have to see when the police call if they have any interest in talking to him or not. Next time I see him I will atleast ask what happened to his truck.

Measure the height of his rear quarter versus the damage to your car. Any paint transfer? Does the lens piece match?

sucks man sorry to hear about that.

Yep, what green said. take measurements to see if damages line up. I am an insurance adjuster and I see this kind of thing all the time. Tire tread? You can give his licence plate to your insurance and they can investigate that for you. That totally sucks!

Shelby

That does look strange....how much junk is in that open tail light? None? A fresh wound?

Do the measuring as above, collect the pieces of the tail light and look for a fit with that truck, look for numbers and markings to identify the lens and match up to the good tail light.

It seems something similar to that hit you, look at the height. No damage on the truck higher than the top of your quarter panel??

Look to me like it would line up.

You must have cooled down ... enough to blurr out the trucks licence plate!

Let the cops take care of it remember you still live in the same building.... after you give him a chance to fess up!

If you were now to take up a 5-6 line a day coke habit or drink a 12 pack a day, I would not hold it against you.

Hopefully this all works out and they get the SOB.

Haven't heard from the police yet. I know an officer will call me in a day or two but he is going to just ask if I have any new information. I will tell him what the witness told me. Im guessing unless they managed to catch the guy that night which seems doubtful unless the woman involved called them as well. that nothing will be found and that I plus the other 3 cars in the parking lot are just SOL.

This sucks big time. I'm sorry it had to happen to your ride. Been there before and it's a painful experience--somehow the ride never has the same feel again. The really downside is "trading in after it's fixed" will be of no advantage because fo the crappy depreciation. Goodluck with getting her fixed and back on the road like new.

Absolutely awful - I tend to think its jealousy when things like this happen. Our 300s are so nice so people have to destroy and damage them to make themselves feel better for some reason... Luckily I've avoided most situations like that and a tire being slashed is the worst that's happened so far.

Keep your head up buddy... hopefully they'll find a lead soon

This sucks big time man. I seen this once while on the job. There was a new Jaguar parked up across the street from where i was and a delivery truck backed up and smashed the hood then took off. I threw the car in drive, followed the truck, got the name and number of the company along with the plate number. I wrote it on a piece of paper along with the time so that way they can figure out the driver. Hope they catch this SOB!

That completely sucks. I hope you or the police find him and make him pay. My first dent put there by someone else put me in a tailspin that lasted a week. I can't imagine what you are going through.

Do the cops know who the woman was? She can ID this clown. Better so your insurance company has something to go on. If you can get a police report number, thats what they need, too.

Nuclearjack
02-03-2009, 06:15 PM
Right now Im trying to connect one of the witnesses to someone in the police dept. The guy I talked to said he would review the event logs for my building. Im going to guess that the woman involved never reported anything and that the cops didnt arrive in time to see anyone.

The body shop as an estimate of $2600 with a new fender and door. Im only out the $500 deductible but thats still $1000 this month for the car and nothing to show for it but what I started with.

I realize these threads are depressing and when it happens again I wont post about it on here. No need to keep bringing everyone down.

She probibly never reported having a fight in the parking lot and possably never knew that 3 cars were damaged.

Now that she knows that the jerk hit 3 cars, she might assist the police but if she has cooled off she may "be in love with him" and not willing to get him in trouble .

act fast before she has a chance to reconcile with him!
