So today in the Greater Kanawha Valley of West Virginia we got our first real snow (4-6 inches) for the year and because we live in a climate where a dusting gets the kids out of school people go crazy trying to drive in the snow. I was taught by my father, who grew up in North Eastern Pennsylvania, how to drive in snow and ice at about age 13 or 14 when we would go back up to visit family. He always said "if you can drive when the roads are bad, you will be able to do great when they are clean and dry."

Well today my LX friends I used everything he taught me. Its amazing how you store knowledge in your head and don't even think about it until you absolutely need it. And today, using what he taught me, I took my tank of a car some 20+miles into work with no problems.

It made me proud to see the folks that think their 4 wheel drive will let them go as they please standing outside wondering how did my big SUV get stuck in the snow!!!!! I think its kinda funny when my 4 door sedan can get out of the driveway going up hill and the guy with the 4 wheel drive truck spins and spins and then gets stuck. I dunno, I don't mean to boast but I am proud of my leasons learned and more importantly my 300. She was great on downhill grades, sweeping interstate turns, and more importantly at a safe and comforting speed of much less than many yahoos had thier SUV's going out there. I may not have made it the fastest, or looked the coolest by being in the fast lane throwing snow up over the guardrails into the other lanes, but we made it, safe and sound. Others weren't so lucky as I saw lots of twisted fenders and broken lights on my way in, I only wish those people were taught the same as me, and more importantly, had a tank like I do to get them there!

Amazingly enough I am on the stock GOODYEAR's that came on my base... love em! I have my toyos on in the summer but I have never had anything but GOODYEARs on any of my cars.

nice story ... unfortunately for me, my difficulty is not driving my SRT in the snow, that I have control over ...

just be careful of yourself and your sweet sled because there are a lot of things you CANT CONTROL .. ie: women in SUV's

be safe .. enjoy

If it makes you better even, I pulled a 4x4 Subaru wagon out of a ditch this winter with my rwd Magnum. Hehe. Subaru owner said" Well you've got a hemi" I held my tongue, but was thinking , you might want to learn how to drive.

I'm running studded winterforce tires on 18s. I just traded in an 05 magnum sxt awd for an 08 300C AWD. I kept the tires from the magnum and swapped them to the 300. That few days when i first bought the 300 and was driving it without the winter tires really showed my how much difference there is between the two.
With the right tires, AWD LXs are really good on snow and ice.

nice. I drive mine year round. I too have the crappy tires that came with the base, but does fine. I love drifting around turns in the snow. Fun but I do it safe.

I was very surprised how well the went through the snow with my stock tires two winters ago. I had been quite concerned about having a real whell drive. Too many years of a front wheel drive and 4x4's, and memories of rear wheel drives when I was younger.

I now put my stock rims back on every fall but I have Goodyear winter tires on them. I have taken the 300 through snow storms and high mountain passes without incident.

My only fear is the other driver that crosses the centre line!

At least our cars have a good rating for the front offset crash testing.
