So today in the Greater Kanawha Valley of West Virginia we got our first real snow (4-6 inches) for the year and because we live in a climate where a dusting gets the kids out of school people go crazy trying to drive in the snow. I was taught by my father, who grew up in North Eastern Pennsylvania, how to drive in snow and ice at about age 13 or 14 when we would go back up to visit family. He always said "if you can drive when the roads are bad, you will be able to do great when they are clean and dry."
Well today my LX friends I used everything he taught me. Its amazing how you store knowledge in your head and don't even think about it until you absolutely need it. And today, using what he taught me, I took my tank of a car some 20+miles into work with no problems.
It made me proud to see the folks that think their 4 wheel drive will let them go as they please standing outside wondering how did my big SUV get stuck in the snow!!!!! I think its kinda funny when my 4 door sedan can get out of the driveway going up hill and the guy with the 4 wheel drive truck spins and spins and then gets stuck. I dunno, I don't mean to boast but I am proud of my leasons learned and more importantly my 300. She was great on downhill grades, sweeping interstate turns, and more importantly at a safe and comforting speed of much less than many yahoos had thier SUV's going out there. I may not have made it the fastest, or looked the coolest by being in the fast lane throwing snow up over the guardrails into the other lanes, but we made it, safe and sound. Others weren't so lucky as I saw lots of twisted fenders and broken lights on my way in, I only wish those people were taught the same as me, and more importantly, had a tank like I do to get them there!
