:confused:Ok I have the Elderbroch lowering springs and stoch shocks. First all the bolts on the frount shocks kept getting lose. Then they just finaly blew. What kind of shocks am I saposed to have on there that will now blow out?

Sorry there Cap, but the stockers can't handle being lowered. It goes past their travel abilities.

Yep, Cammer is right on....

Thats the whole advantage of coilovers. You are adding shocks AND springs that are designed to work with one another, especially at a lowered height.

When you just put on a lowering spring, yes you get the look you are going after. but now the shock has to work in a more compressed position---a position it was NOT designed to work in.

My advice? Go with some coilovers. Not only will they last longer, but they are designed to work a lot better and there is a phenomenal improvement in the overall ride quality!!

Sounds good but right now I just want to replace the stock shocks with ones that work. Any idea where to get them or what kind to get?

You need Eibach Dampers with Eibach Springs.

You need the pro-dampers. You don't have to change the springs if you don't want to. The Eibach pro dampers will work with any lowering springs. Tirerack.com has the pro-dampers for $402.00. Cheapest you'll find anywhere.

These are your answer, these will not blow out like the stock shocks will, they will give you a much better ride, and much better handling. They are best when used with our springs, but can be used with stock springs, and other brands of lowering springs.

What defines 'blowing out' of the stock shocks?

I put on Eibach ProKits at 500 miles, and 40,000 miles later I couldn't really tell any difference in the ride or handling of my Magnum - what were you doing different?

I drive it like I stole it, and the degradation of the shocks was so slow over time that there really wasn't any major lightning-bolt moment where I sat up and said "Oh No! my shocks are blown!"

I have a Pedders setup now, with shocks and springs, and quite frankly, I don't see a whole hell of a lot of difference in the ride or handling characteristics.

I feel for you man, I just paid my tuition to learn about suspenions on Lx's.

I installed the Eibach Pro 2 kit, springs and dampers, purchased from Tire Rack. What I missed was the OTHER items needed to adjust the camber, front and rear adjustable bushings. Rob at Wretched was a great help and provided the parts. While the entire front end was apart we installed a Pedders bump steer kit and new tie rod ends. Needless to say this mod went over budget and took twice as long as expected. If I had it to do over, I would have bought the bushings at the same time as the Pro 2 kit and save time, labor and fustration.

Final results, car lowered 1.25" front 1.5" rear, handels great, ride is better most of the time and worse over ruff roads.

Good luck!

So in addition to the dampeners I have to go out and buy a bunch of other things now just to make the springs work?

Well I had the springs for about 9 weeks now. The springs creak now and the front end floats or bounces on everything. It also seems like it is bottoming out on the littlest bumps.

just to confuse you even more, ill throw my hat in the ring and vote for the pedders setup. You already have some springs so you could just pick up the set of pedders shocks for <$500

Tire Rack has the shocks made for my springs (I got the name wrong) for only $402.00. Unless someone can do pedders for better then that I am going with them.
FYI: I am old school and thinks 22" are ugly on any car. When I was your car in the garage I changed my mind. That is the only set of rims that look good in my opinion. They just look perfect on your car, like they belong there.

ours cost a bit more, but you don't hear complaints that ours give a rough ride. Ours are designed to be on a daily driver, and give a good ride, with good handling.

The Eibach pro dampers do the same for me + you get a million mile replacement warranty.

Sounds good,

I went to your link. Your products are, "Gate Way," products. Those shocks will wind up costing me 3000.00 easy! Same thing happened to me at Billet Technology. LOL I wanted 1 thing and it was so good I purchased everything they were selling! I have a Mod addiction. :)
I really think the systems you sell for our cars are dam good. I am going to get one of the better kits because I want some new bushings and a sway bar anyway. I am thinking of the Track 1 so far. I will see what happens in the summer time or see if you can make me a kit with the thingsI want.
Anyway this is a cheap easy fix for now. I can not afford the time to have my car at the dealer all day this month to install everything the Track 1 or Track 2 kit has.

too bad the eibach dampers dont have the new bump stops so you will still have that nasty bump when you bottom out.

i love my pedders

I just had Pedders dampeners and springs installed and the ride is firm yet soft. No bouncing around, or even a need to change my driving habits. A lowered car does not always have to mean suffering through the rough ride. Do it right and get some dampeners. For a few dollars more, I went with Pedders and couldn't be happier. Actually I bought mine during their Cyber Monday special and got all 4 dampeners for like $350 shipped. Eibach is probably good too. Do what is best for you and good luck.

??? What are you Talking about? I've been riding on Eibach Sportlines with the Pro-dampers for quite some time and I haven't hit the bump stops once.

Thanks Joe, yeah I love the look of these 22s on my car. Im sure youll be happy with whatever you go with (just to get some decent ride back), but you wont be disappointed with Pedders at all. They are a little more expensive that the competition, but they warrant it IMHO. I dont regret going with them one bit.

I'm fussy about tire wear, read about guys wearing out the inside of their tires at the track.... so I spent the extra coin now to get it right. I see from your other threads you are talking with Rob who can guide you on the right parts.

Post some before and after pics.

Yup, been running the Eibach Pro Springs and Dampers for 1yr now and have never hit the bumpstops??? I drive every day and take multiple 500+ mile trips per year, so its not like the car is babied.
