View Full Version : Need opinions on wheel choice?

Stuck between wheel choices, this is for my 06 Charger R/T with R&T in brilliant black. I will be sticking to a 20" wheel with a 275/40/20 tire with either choice and it will be on a stock ride hieght (at least for now). I kinda like the Boss wheels as I just put on some slotted stoptech rotors on all corners and painted my calipers black, the open spoke design would show that off well but I love the Chally replicas as well:

Opinions welcomed, and any photoshoppers would be of great help also.

Hmmm... tough decision. There both great looking rims. Any idea of the weight of each rim? This would be my only concern.

Yikes the BOSS rims are: 34lbs a piece.

Not sure on the replicas (I would have to check with factory reproductions), any info I could find on the other reproduction wheels they made were close and/or the same weight of the BOSS wheels.

Stock chally wheels weight 27lbs a piece, thats another option also and is on the lighter side of things but I do like black accents.

I hear ya man.... I originally wanted the black chally rims but opted to go the OEM chally route for the weight savings. Us lil 5.7 guys need all the savings we can get.

I am a fan of the Boss.

Just a 'let you know', the 20" OEM chrome clads are 36.5 pounds. Is a pound or two difference really truly going to sway your purchase? A gallon of gasoline equals 5.8 to 6.4 pounds. Does anyone only fill their tank half way to lighten their load by 40 pounds? A gallon of water weighs in at appx 8.3 pounds. Do you empty your washer tank to save a few pounds?

Go with the wheel that strikes you as good looking, the weight issue is moot except for John Force, he's a maniac for this type of weight savings.

Good luck.

Any pics of your 08 wheels powdered and polished similar to the repros on your car? Still haven't seen the look on a charger yet with the black pockets.

Get the chally repo's. Hands down.

Down the road you'll start to appreciate the significance of your factory looking aftermarket wheel. If that makes sense at all.
