Wtf an 8-speed!?!!?

Looks like the last years for racing a V6 will be 08'. In order to make the 300 and Charger more econo friendly Ceberus is putting an 8-speed auto in the V6 cars so they meet those stupid CAFE standards. Makes me sick!

damn you beat me to posting...well i hope they can succeed with this. the charger is already a pretty hot item, as is the 300C, better mileage and the 8-speed bragging rights can only help.

I think the MB version is 7-speed. The Lexus LS has an 8-speed auto.
Either way, I don't think Chrysler can get many more MB parts if they can get any at all. That ship has sailed.

Mercedes doesn't have any 8-speeds, just 7's and as far as I know nothing less with four wheels has an 8-speed except semi-trucks! Those hootenannies at Chrysler want to run 300s and Chargers at 5 RPMS so it gets 120,000 mpg and is so quiet, not even the door will make a sound when you close it. If they throw in a 8 speed the car would shift every 15 mph. They should rename the current 5-speed and call the 8-speed the "NAG1".

phoenix and an 8speed might be interesting. just because it has 8 gears doesn;t mean it has to go through en sequentially.

Also, if it shifts fast and hard it'll be as fast if not faster than the present 4/5spd

yep the Lexus ISF has an 8 speed tranny that car moves out too. My tundra has a 6 speed and works good as well

Whats wrong with an 8 speed? You can keep the engine right in the perfect tourque curve for every shift. A manual I could understand the complaint but with an automatic whats not to like.:)
