View Full Version : Eibach springs, anyone have them?

I was thinking about getting a set of Eibach sportline springs to lower the Magnum a wee bit. Recently while I was at a friends performance shop they swapped the stock springs for a set of Eibachs on a Jeep SRT and the thing looked absolutely sick! So since Christmas as well as my birthday are coming up I figured I start making a list.
So has anyone used Eibach's before? I know there a pretty solid company and their stuff looks great right out of the box. Would I expect any long term effects with just swapping the springs?

It was great looking but should have put the dampers on as well I am sure it would have been even better. This was on my old RT.

I have the Eibach Pro-Kit installed on my AWD ... it lowered the higher-riding AWD to about the same height as a stock SRT8 (I was parked next to one at a meet-and-greet and we couldn't tell which one was lower :) ), so almost 2" lower than the stock AWD height.
You can see lots of pics by clicking on the "My homepage" link in my sig :)
I love the new look, but the ride could be better / smoother over some bumps, but since I am still using the factory springs (over 10,000 miles later), I can't really complain ... the car rides and handles as I expect it :racing:

I ran the stocker shocks with Eibach Prokits for 41,000 miles.
Some folks might say that the stock shocks will self-destruct instantly if you use 'em, but I disagree.
The rate of decay is slow enough that you might not even notice for a long long time. Never handled odd or bad to me, just 'better' than stock.
You'll like 'em..

I've had my Pro springs on for about 20K miles and love the look and the ride! No issues here...

Ok, I'll chime in. I've got the sportlines on my '05 R/T along with Eibachs pro dampers.
Like night and day. I rode with the stock struts/shocks and while I thought the ride was ok , it was bouncy and I did hit the fenders on the tires ( luckily with very minor damage). That kind off ride is ok if your on stock springs. As soon as you close the gap between the fenders and the tires (sportline springs), you no longer have the room to bounce. If your not careful you can do some pretty good fender damage. Besides, one of the benefits of lowering is supposed to be improved handling. A big improvement in that area comes with new dampers. Trust me on this, the pro-dampers make a huge difference. I know, I've done it both ways. Here's a few shots of my car on sportlines. As you can see, there's not any room for bouncing. I have had NO need to roll my fenders and I have NO rubbing issues at all!

Good to know cause I went to measure out the height difference last night after I posted the thread and I started having second thoughts about getting the sportline and going with the basic pro kit since I don't plan on swapping out the stock rims and tires and for the most part being there's a ton of potholes if I go into the city for a few events. I do plan on eventually swapping out the tires (215/65R17's Goodyears suck) to something with a lower profile and somewhat wider tread.
Will see what happens, I'm making a christmas/birthday list.

Ive got the Eibach pro kit with the stock shocks and stock wheels and the only thing I object to is when you have people in the back it tends to bounce a little which Im sure the Eibach dampers will cure. other than that I love the look. Do need some new shoes though!

Was actually thinking of putting the non leveling srt shocks in the rear and see if that stiffens it up

You know, Bilstein, KYB, Koni, Hotchkis, tein and others all offer performance dampers that may be a little cheaper than Eibachs'. I'd look into other options as well as the rear SRT shocks. There is a reason SRT owners replace thier dampers when installing lowering springs.

I've got the Eibach Pro Kit installed on mine and love 'em. Upgrading the shocks with the springs is definately money well spent. These cars need to have good shocks.

So I would gather that most people here like the Eibach Suspension Products.
I'm in the market for upgrading the ride on my 05 Magnum, but I have a couple of questions.
I was planning on getting the Eibach Pro-System-Plus mainly because of the 1.3in lowering (I have to many pot holes and speed tables in my area for the 2in drop) and the kit comes with everything I hope.
My question is about tires and this may kill the whole project.
I'm running stock 18 R/T rims with 255/55/18 Nitto 420S, can anyone tell me if I can run this size tire with the Pro-System-Plus?
Thanks

The tires will not be a problem for you. I'm running 265/45/20 and 295/40/20's without a problem. BTW, I have the Eibach Pro-Kit and Dampers.

I'm running Toyo Proxes ST II's 255/50/R18, closer to stock diameter, with the Pro-Kit. No pictures yet, just installed last Saturday. Need to replace my rear dampers. Anyway, love the ride quality, cornering is FLAT, and no rubs.

Excellent Looking Mag. The straight level of the vehicle with those rims looks Amazing.
Can you tell me of the ride quality (stiffer, softer, less or more road noise and bumps noticed) that is a big concern of mine?

Thanks for the props. The ride quality from a performance perspective is awesome. There are several factors in this case....the low profile tires, stiffer springs, dampers and Hotchkis sways....that bring more road 'feel' into the driver's seat. It's comfortable enough though where the wife and kids still enjoy our weekend cruises during the summer.

I am also thinking of replacing the springs/shocks and sway bars. I am not sure to go with Hotchki sways and springs with KYB shocks, eibach all around (sportline vs. prokit), or the pedders guy seems to have been chiming in a bit about their stuff. I do not know the price on the pedders stuff either. I will most likely be keeping the stock wheels.
I want a stiff ride, but do not want any rubbing issues or issues with hitting the bump stops in the rear with loads. Does anybody have any suggestions, experience or knowledge if one of these options have trouble with bump stops?

I myself have dropped several LXs in the past couple of months.
Most folks are jumping on the Hotchkis sways ans some sort of Eibach product.
I have installed both sportsline and prokit and fromthe owners in my club they are still happy without rubbing or bump stop issues.
I have not worked with the Pedders gear yet but that day is coming soon.

I have had bad experience with the Eibach springs and dampers durability on my Magnum. When they are new handling is good and the ride is still ok. Unfortunately my struts leaked and the springs sag and do not hold the ride height. I am about to take off my SECOND set and throw them in the trash. Eibach will not get a third chance with me. The spings when new were as advertised 1.3" drop. My first set set was replaced under warrenty when it went from 1.3" to over 3" drop. The second set has already sagged to a 3" drop. This is two sets in just 3 years. When these springs sag to this point it looks great but the ride is just horrible.
Even though they replaced the parts under warrenty the labor and allignment is not covered. Even though some of the coil over kits appear to be more expensive initially the final cost (and satisfaction!!) may be a better value.
I was in on the very first LX Eibach buy so I should be able to provide as good as long term durability report as any. I do not think getting 2 bad sets of springs is just a coincident.

i had sportlines and pro dampers for a long time and loved it thing handled like it was on rails had no problems at all in my opinion if you do it do it all at once...
i switched to air ride and kept the pro dampers on they still work great....

If you replace the springs you should really replace the shocks at the same time. Regardless of manufacturer.

Regardless of manufacturer.I agree as well, but I did the Prokits at 500 miles - totally freaked out the mechanic - "I ain't ever worked on no brand-new car!". The then-new stock shocks worked fine for a long long time - for me, your mileage may vary.
The advertised drop I think is a guesstimate, mine went down about 2 inches over time.
I have to say though, it's way better with the Pedders bits under it - I actually made myself a bit nauseous in the twisty bits when we did the GALXC ride to Oktoberfest in Helen, GA.
GA60 from Blue Ridge to Dahloniga has more up-n-down-left-n-right-round-n-round corners than I've ever seen, and having the car actually STICK and not lean made me explore the limits more and more, until I could hang the tail out and powerslide on some corners - flat and stable, first and second gear, lots of rpm and up on the wheel, that ROCKED!

YES, I have the Eibach Pro Kit with Eibach Pro Dampers. The look is perfect and the ride quality is improved over stock.
