Toyo Proxes vs Toyo ST II vs Nitos 420

I'm in the need for some new shoe and are thinking about one of the above three. I was wondering if any of you have any thoughts and experience with the above three, GOOD and BAD for each and comparisons.

Also if there is another tire I should be considering please let me know

I have Nitto 420s on mine and they have been great in both wet and dry. Not as soft as the Goodyear F1 Supercars but they handle good for that type of tire and with the treadwear at 420 they will last more than 20k. I had Toyo Proxes on my Mercedes and did not like them b/c of the road noise and wet traction. The treadwear is 300 for the Toyo's. No experience with the Toyo ST II. Hope this helps.

Went right through my F1's in about 20+k miles. Have Proxies 4 on there now with about 75K on the car. Backs are a little thin (but I guess that's to be expected :mrgreen:) but the fronts still have a good deal of meat on them so I'm pleased with them.

I have the Proxies 4 on mine now. The car drives, feels and sounds great with them. Only negative is they seemed to wear down pretty quickly, only got about 10000 miles on the rear tires of my staggered setup. Granted I had cam, heads, etc... done at the same time I put them on.

love the proxes plus 4, they wear well except on the rear for me, too! They don't do the "greasy" feel in hot weather, and they are good at the track.

But they are a great compromise. Dirt cheap, too. The F1's are a good tire if the road is warm and dry only. They can die in just a few thousand aggressive miles.

That STII is an SUV tire. No experience with them at all.

I like Nitto drag radials for the strip, other than that no experience.

I have the 420's and I have been very pleased. I dont go to the track and my car is a daily driver. I would buy them again in a heartbeat. Dont have alot of miles on them yet so I cant comment on that part.

toyo proxe st's here. wear is a 420-heat and grip are both at A rating. they stick great with no noise at all and dont slide around in the wet. SICK part is they are a new design and can handle a weight load of 2360 pounds per tire at 50 psi

I'm about to throw a complete set of the Toyo ST IIs on my Bee for winter. The tires are staggered sizing, and will be installed on my stock wheels. The tread seems quite different from what's currently out there. It seems like there's a lot of technology going on there. I will say that just by looking at the tires (255/45/20 front 9.9" wide, 29" tall, and 295/40/20 rear 11.7" wide, 29.3" tall, according to Toyo's info) they seem smaller in width, than other tires of the same size. Comparing the 255s in the Toyo, to the 255 F1s on my car now, it doesn't seem close, width-wise.
But, regardless, I should be changing them out Saturday, and I'll try to take some comparison pics and measurements.

Your 100% right. they are a 1/2 inch taller for some reason. I went from nitto 255/45 20's to 255 45 /20 toyo's and they are taller. they look better/fill the fender well better and the new tread design makes NO NOISE and they stick

I have Toyo Proxies 4, and have absolutely no complaints about them. I don't burn out ever since I have a 3.5, but they have held up great so far. only put about 7k on them before I switched to my winter setup, but they seem to be holding up quite well.

I put 255-50-18 Proxes ST's on my magnum at 30K miles...They lasted to 115K and a few weeks ago I put on Proxes ST II (same size).

I wanted to stay with ST's, but I was told that they weren't available anymore, and that they were superceded by ST II's.

So far, I am pleased with them.

85 thousand miles thats great! they are a hard compound tire for wear but not so hard that they make noise or slip around in the rain. AND if you heat them up they stick well. BRAND new they have alot of tread depth.

:blam:i have the toyo proxy 4 on now and i only got about 15000 miles out of them. i also noticed that they ride noisy compared to the stock tires. also i feel more of the little bumps that i really did not feel before. so now i am lookign for somthing different. they were great handling but they wear way to fast.
