View Full Version : Daytona Brakes same as police pkg?
part deux

I am so confused reading a bunch of threads with a lot of differing opinions.
If I understand correctly, front rotor and pads are the same, the rears are different.
Local parts store got stuck with a set of "premium" slotted front rotors and pads and is willing to sell them to me at cost approximately $250. Good deal? I'm probably a year away from needing brakes

I'm trying to figure out the same thing. My eyes at 1:30am tell me no, hemmings muscle mag says no, but napa says yes. I'll get to the bottom of this sooner or later.

Why not talk to Dodge instead, guys?
Pete! Chicken Man! Where are ye?

The problem with talking to Dodge based on what I've tried in the past is that they can't tell you crap unless you have VIN# for the vehicle you are asking about. Aren't computers great!?
So, if you can get a VIN# off a police car and your VIN#, you can find out what the differences are at the Dealership. Otherwise, they can't seem to help.

Yea that would have been 2 easy actually asking someone from dodge. I did a small right up in my first post. The Road and Track in 2006 had the same size rotors as the regular r/t's. It wasn't until 2007 that they rotors went to police package sizes. I haven't seen this myself but I hear from a very good source that this is the case. Best thing to do is just measure them like I did but, hopefully not at 1:30am in 40 degree weather :)

hey, no problem. but just to make a point, could someone give me a vin for an 08/09 daytona just to make sure it wasnt a running change.
the 08 police package (2B3LA43H58H239555) lists as BR8 brakes on front and back.
My 07 RT R&T (freak car) has BR6 front, and BR5 rears.
Chris (CDNchargerRT) has BR5 front and BR5 rear brakes.
if anyone wants to add to the list of vins used in this, PM me and i'll add it to my database. i wont post the vin, just the options and part numbers.

Well that is the easy way of doing it ;) I got on my back and measured my rotors, then found an old issue of hemmings muscle mag. Got all the info I needed right there. Hell I must posted on like 6 different threads about this same thing in the past 24 hours.

updated post 10 for ease of reading, and more details. 08 rear caliper bracket numbers dont have a vin specific listing, but considering the 08 daytona has the same rotors and pads as the previous models, i would ASSUME they are the same part.
