I thought I should start my own thread instead of asking in the other. Can these stripes be removed? I only assume that they are not cleared over. The reason, I have found a car I like, however it has these stripes - and I dont care for them.

I pretty sure its vinyl. I seen a challenger with the black matte on the hood removed.

am sure a paint shop can remove them no problem, as long as the car is still very new (Sunbleach on the paint etc).

Being vinyl and all, probably just a heat gun.

If it's like the SRT the stripes are done well after paint (and everything else for that matter) at a seperate vendor 5 hours away from production so I doubt they're cleared over.
I would think a heat gun and a good buffing after should do the trick.

Quick question- Are they flat black or semi or gloss black?

The ones I saw were on a Black Challenger. The stripes were a flat charcoal/dark grey color. They looked great.

the stripes are done in a facility in windsor, across from detroit. the cars are built in brampton, ON. thats 4 hours apart, and you know they sit in a holding lot at both locations for probably a week each. the paint is well dried by then as the car is painted, then assembled. the stripes will come off, just make sure you have a competent shop do it, and there wont be any issues with marks, or lines, or pulling of paint.

the safest way to remove is use a hair blow dryer.

Heat guns put out A LOT of heat (even at low setting) and you could potentially discolor or "cook" the paint. Even on the low setting a heat gun is designed to remove paint, or old window glazing compound.

You would want to warm the tape stripes up gradually to soften the adhesive, and peel back slowly, then clean residue off the paint and probably polish & way the newly uncovered area.

If you can take your finger nail and catch the edge of the stripe. These are not clear coated. If they feel flush to the paint then it has clear coat over them.

As far as taking them off. As noted a heat gun/hair dryer should do the trick and I use Goop Gone to remove excess adhesive.
