A bit long, but read on if you want, lol, or just skip to the pics!
Ok, got my Nova down to my house, Finally. Its been at dads place for over a year waiting to get the valves adjusted (solid lift) and carb tuned! Well one thing led to another and it ended up staying well, from Sept '07 to Today! Pop brought it down to the coast this morning. We backed it off trailer, into the shop, and back to work. Got home and took it down the road, it was surging and just ran rough, WTF? So i turn around and i start out in 1st gear, then 2nd, then .... wheres 3rd.. wtf? Shifter is stuck in second. Won't come out for anything. So i drive home in second gear and pull into the one side of the shop with out the lift (stupid) then realize i need to get the SRT off the lift and put the Nova on it to see wtf is up?
Well I don't know if any of you have tried to push a hunk of metal up a slight bumpy incline while pushing in the clutch half hanging out of the car... well, my big ass couldn't do it. How the crap am i suppose to hold the clutch in AND push the car back... ::Enter PIC A:: Ingenuity or common sense... lol i thought it was clever. Pulled two hernias and a one nut, but i finally got it pushed back. Up on the lift and the shift linkage is Fu(ked. I've replaced the clutch, flywheel, reworked the trans and the linkage is the only thing i haven't touched since i've got the car (2 years ago) So, i'm ordering a new shifter and linkage tomorrow AM to get them in time for Cruisin The Coast!!
OH -- and you thought you were done... I lowered the car and began diagnosing the sputtering and ****ty running in general. Pulled the plug wires, nothing visible, pulled the plugs and they are toast, they are blacker than sh|t. Same plugs i tried to time and jet the car myself with, lol i expected them to be pretty much fouled! Next just for the heck of it i pulled out the ol DVOM. Started ohming plug wires. Damn, number 3 has a break somewhere in the wire... Fk
So, on the list for tomorrow.. New Hurst shifter and linkage, plug wires, and plugs. Hopefully that will get this bitch running strong again!
OK .. onto the pics!
