Looking for winter tires

Being the cheap bastard that I am, these looked appealing. The plan would be to keep the RT wheels that I have and put the winters shoes on them. Then come spring, look for some take-offs.

can't comment on the Firestones.
i have the Michelin Latitude X-ice. worked just fine for me. several heavy snowfalls last winter.

While I'm not all that cheap or frugal, I don't have a lot of cash to burn. With that being said, I purchased a set of these for my '05 Magnum R/T last October. I figured they had to be better than the stock Continentals that I had been running for the winter months.

While I'm sure that there are most likely better winter tires, these do deliver. In the past I've run Dunlop Graspic 2's on a previous car. While nowhere near comparable to the LX platform, the difference between the stock Eagle RSA's, or some siped Continental Extreme Contact tires was drastic. With the actual snow tires on (the Dunlops) the car was more like a snowmobile. It went through anything I threw at it. It was a pleasure to drive in the winter.

Now flash forward a couple of years. The Winterforce tires I put on my car made a huge difference in the snow compared to the stock Conti's but it was as drastic as my last car with the Dunlops. However like I said the cars are not comparable as the last one was a front wheel drive V6 powered coupe. However I feel much more confiedent in the Maggie's capabilities in the snow and ice with these tires, but I bet there are much better suited ones out there. I don't have any regrets and will run them again this winter (If I'm still in Michigan) and I'll continue to run them every winter until they no longer have enough tread to be effective or safe.

If you have the money to get something a bit better, I would, but if you're in a situation like I was (flat broke but needing safe winter tires), then get these.

While that's not a great endorsement, it's the best I can offer. They're effective, but I'm sure that there are better tires out there. However they are hard to beat for the price, especially if money is limited.

Well, hearing that you are going to run them again this year is a pretty decent endorcement for me. The next bump up in price takes me from $90 a tire to $140 a tire. I'm sure I can find a better use for the 200 bucks.

Tires Plus is selling the Winterforce's for about $110.

Also, take a look at Nokian winter tires.
