well i promised myself i wouldnt touch anything on this set up. until the engine let go. but im really wanting to get a CMR tune done, the more i think about it. its a 2006 SRT8 300C. vortech s/c, hi-flo cats, and corsa cat-back.

there is no reputable tuner, within a far distance from me. so my only choice, is to get the car shipped to the states(which is out of the question for just a custom tune). or do some datalogging, and have a tune done via email.

is the email tune really that safe, when we are talking about a boosted set up?? it seems kinda sketchy to me even on a N/A setup. but with boost, there is really no room for error. id much rather see it strapped to the dyno, with the tuner right in front of it.

Where are you located?

I can personally recommend the tuner from Inertia Motorsports...they built and tuned my 426 Hemi stroker very well though email and then I got to a dyno and it was almost SPOT ON!!!!

From what I've heard this is the only guy to do it?
dynosteve@rdpmotorsport.com

or just PM Dyno Steve.

Geez, the first two responses are spot on! Inertia or RDP are the best two options and have done boosted stuff before. I would only trust my car with them. Good luck and youre gonna love it.

Talk to SDCarguy. He's been doing email tunes with Mike from Inertia and loves his results so far with his Vortech.

Tecmotion in Calgary. www.tecmotion.ca (http://www.tecmotion.ca) I wouldn't even bother looking in Edmonton.

There is a member on here with a cammed 5.7 Magnum done there ( CanuckDWfan) and they did allright. With just a sidewinder and mopar headers( along with his existing previous mods) he went from 14.7 passes at Castrol to 13.9's. I had my car done by RDP racing ( email obviously)and I am happy with my tune. If I were you I would just buy a wideband( like I did, I got it through Jb's Power Center, its not truly the LM1 because that isn't available anymore but they pieced everything together for me instead and made an LM1 kit. I like the LM1 because its pretty powerful and I can easily swap it from car to car. I didn't buy it specifically for the Charger.) and deal with a known good tuner and go from there.

I am doing heads/cam over the winter and that is all I am going to do again. Steve knows what he is doing and I trust him more than any local yocal around this part of the world. If I give him wideband data it would be hardly any different than him sitting in front of the car anyhow. An inexperienced tuner looking right at the car is worse than an email tune from someone who has done a bunch of them before. That being said if you are hellbent on a dyno tune Tecmotion may be for you. His Mustang dyno reads ridiculously low( even for a Mustang) but whatever, its the gains that count. The peak numbers dyno's spit out are meaningless anyhow.

Look at it this way, my tune is pretty good, it was enough to outrun you with my internally stock N/A 6.1..........

My best ET was 13.49 and the best trap that night was 107.5mph. It was just too hot..... Best so far is 13.3 @110 mph. I just need a lower 60' time, stupid slippery Castrol.

Inertia or RDP. I've seen both guys work and they are top notch.

I've written to Inertia twice to ask about email tunes for my 5.7 with a Vortech and still have not received a response. Going to have to rule them out pretty soon...

Daveleck I'm contacting the tuner now and asking for a reply to you - you emailed to tuning@inertiamotorsports.com, right?

Yep. PM'd him a month ago and then emailed that address yesterday morning.

ya im pretty sure ill be going with RDP. i just wanted to make sure i was safe, being boosted and all. i really dont wanna spend 15g on a 426 build right now. if my engine happens to let go.

for your wideband, did you just drill a hole, and weld a bung on after your cat?? or does it go inline with your O2 sensor??

im not sure what is up with my car. my best was a 13.54, with the same trap speed as you. what was your 60ft time?? im sure i wouldve eeked out enough to beat you, if i was running stock wheels. plus im carryin around that extra stereo weight too. but either way, i wouldve thought, id be runnin away from you by a good bit.

My 60' time was 2.15 or so, so not very good. Kelsey ran a 13.53 @107.5 but her 60' was 2.25. If she could launch with the same 60' as me she would kill my ET's. On a good night like I said, I trap about 110 mph which for the weight and the altitude I am running at. Heads, cam and port matching my intake should hopefully get me a 115 mph speed. A 100 horse shot will take it over the top if that is what it takes. For what I have done to this car it's pretty strong. I run away from all the other SRT's at the track, when I have traction, LOL. Using the weight and trap speed I am close to 410hp at the wheels, so that's not too shabby. Proof catbacks do nothing. I changed the forward stuff and that helped a lot, the factory catback however is plenty loud for me and prooving itself in no way a restriction.

You can just pull a rear O2 ( shut the code off with the Predator) and plumb in there. If you have the stock shorties you can go ahead of the cat easily enough. I am not willing to as my cats attach directly to my long tubes collectors and they are ceramic coated. So no, I am not screwing up the coating by welding in another bung. My install is is no way permanent, so pulling a rear O2 is fine for me. I don't have the need to drive around with pillar guages to monitor my AFR.

cool, thanks for the info. im gonna go buy a laptop tomorow. so i can get RDP going on my CMR tune. ill probably just wait till next year to do the wideband. with the s/c, AFR's are something i would like to keep an eye on.

You know the vortech kit should come with a predator and their own tunes right?
Might wanna contact vortech about that.
Also if you plan on having a tuner write you e-mail tunes, spend the money on a wide band, it is vital and a cheap safe guard from pooping your motor.

yes, i am quite aware that the vortech comes with a predator. no offense to you guys, i know you were tuning it to be conservative. but according to many others, there is alot left on the table. and you know how toys work. no matter what you get, you always want something bigger and better.

I have been working with Mike from inertia on mine. I have a wideband that logs to my laptop as well as the predator. I have been going back and forth with the info. He has done GREAT work! I would agree 100% on getting the wideband and imho get one that logs so you can give all the info to your tuner (Steve or Mike both are great people!) There are about 6 of us out here in San Diego that are going with Mike for all our R&D kits due to being able to fly Mike out here after we do the email thing to do all of them on a dyno for the finishing touches. If you have any ?'s holler :)
