Looking to start up LXCentral club

There is a black mustang club thing at Kansas Speedway that day if anybody wanted to go there during the day then meet up in Lawrence that afternoon. I know Lawrence (used to live there) and would and could be a good place to meet up.

I'm here in south KC and am interested. I was toying with the idea of going to Topeka for the BMC deal, but didn't want to be the only LX in a sea of Mustangs. The current club/cruise night scene in KC is lame, so getting something regional going would be welcome...

You more than welcome to join in!! On Oct. 18th the bmc thing will be at the KC Speedway. My neighbor is a BMO (black mustang owner) I like him anyway, dispite his poor taste in cars! Some LX'ers will be at the track I believe. I can't, wife and kids are coming with and she has to work that morning. I'll let everyone here know when and where we will meet at soon.

Most carshows end like at 5pm if these bmc show would do the same, would that be to late for your meet???? just a though but if you would do it in Kc since you are already going to have a big crowd of lxs here and since it's at the speedway the legends is right across the street with plenty of parking and restaurants or whatever to have the meet. I just don't think too many people would want to be at a carshow all day and then drive 30 some miles for a meet.

Have you ever come up to our cruise night in platte city? www.righteousrides.us (http://www.righteousrides.us) only one more left this year. Normally about 115 cars, food discounts, and if i could get kc off their butt sometimes about 7-10 of them otherwise i'm the only lxer up there but i help run the show so i'm hard to get at. Also hpac puts on a good cruise that same night thats dodge only and they do one in topeka second weekend of the month. i've never gone to the topeka one though due to gas prices and such a boring trip . I have tons of kc local car show and cruise info if you need it.

Yes, October 18th is a go. I'd like us all to meet at Checkers grocery store at the corner of 23rd street and Louisiana. Its got a big side parking lot. I'd like to have us all meet there at 11a.m. Then go from there. If everybody is okay with that time. I look foward to finally meeting some of my fellow LX'ers.

Ok, Here is what I'm working on so far. Uncle Randy our contact in Lawrence (more on him later) is helping try to set up a cookout or at least a place for us to all get together at the local Dodge dealership. Randy knows the owner pretty well and thinks he'll like the idea. The owner is currently in Detroit putting his order in for the upcoming year, or at least thats what they said he was doing. I figure everyone meet at the Checkers and go straight to the dealership. If the dealership doesn't come through then we can all go to a resteraunt and get to meet each other, cause I don't know anyone on the forums yet. Well other than Warlock, he doesn't count he is my brother. After that I want to take pictures and cruise!! Well like I've said before this is my first attempt at a M&G, planning or attending.

About "Uncle Randy". He has been a family friend for years and years. I think of him as my second Dad, but likes being called Uncle. Randy may not be around much longer. He has articulitis, I think thats what its called. Arteries are getting clogged and its like cement, can't be cleared out. He's had a few strokes the last few years and was told he only had a couple of years left. That was back in 2002! His health has been iffy at times the last few months. When he started to get better the first thing he wanted to do is come see me and my family.This man has been there for me whenever I needed a helping hand whether its a place to live for a few weeks or help fix my first dryer late one evening. He loves, no he LOVES cars. He drove from Lawrence to Gladstone just to see me pick up my car from the dealership. He was happy when I told him he was now a member of LXCentral even though he doesn't have an LX. He told me he is working on his wife (Aunt Nancy) and is hoping to fix that problem! Thats another reason I wanted to have us meet in Lawrence..... to show Uncle Randy.

I got a hold of the owner of the Dodge dealership in Lawrence. He said he would be honored to have us have our first M&G on his lot!! He pretty much told me that what ever I needed was mine for the asking. First time I have ever been speechless. He said he will give us a prominant spot on his lot for our cars. He'll have food and drink for us as well. I asked if he had a Challenger on the lot, seeing how I've only seen one online. He said he has one right now, but if it sells he will make sure that he will have one on the lot when we get there. He also said he will put an ad in the local paper to let LX owners in Lawrence who don't know about LXForums know we will be there. I haven't asked yet, but I'm thinking maybe a tent and some tables and chairs. Uncle Randy told me when he talked to the owner that he wouldn't mind this being an annual meet. I'm thinking that we should make this a little earlier than 3p.m. I think that we should still meet at the Checkers store around noon. I think it would be cool to have 10 - 15 (or more!) LX'ers rolling in all at the same time. I hope we will have that many coming. I'll post up here or start another thread at the end of this month or early October to get a roll call on who can for sure make it. I'm modding my car as we speak to get it ready!!

WOW is right...that is quite amazing that he was so open to the idea! Now I'm even more stoked! I agree that we should meet up at Checkers or wherever and then roll 20 deep into the M&G. Thunder if you haven't already, you should throw some threads onto the other main pages so people who aren't aware of the regional areas will have visibility and may increase our attendance. Can you get me a hard address on that Checkers so I can plug it in and get a route? Keep us updated!

No problem. I'm going to call the dealership owner here in the next week or so. He said to call a couple of weeks out and then again the week before to fine tune everything. I got to admit, getting a little excited myself. I can't think of anything else to ask for. I mean, heck he is going to supply food, drink,(maybe a tent and table and chairs) and a Challenger!! these shows will interfere with some attendance if this is done on those days.

Is the dealer Jim clark? I used to work there about 8 years ago. I dont know bout that place but hopefully it'll work out. its gone from being all dodge, to a dodge/vw, to mainly vw and a little dodge. Hopefully things have changed

Also we should all go out to dinner or something that night. Lots of good resteraunts out there.

Sorry, between the three clubs, 2 jobs and the fact that between the jobs and side work i normally ahve an average of 10 cars tore apart at one time i dont member alot unless your a bolt or a screw. hehe

thunder, we need to set up a time on this thing (unless i just missed it) 3 is awful late. from my dealer experience most dealers close (service and parts) about 3 on sat and most sales start to slow down then too. If we want to do this we should be up there by lunchtime if not earlier . a 10-2 thing or 10-3 in my opinion to bring business to the dealer. Now if we do this and pull it off and the dealer notices an increase in traffic they will do what they can to make it happen again. We do good for them they will do good for us , thats how this club stuff works. they may buy us lunch, give us shirts, be a sponsor, give discounts or what not . i dont know. Lets blow this thing up. Forget 10 we need thirty.

kc people. i will get kc mopars together and we'll probably meet at ihop at village west and roll out into lawrence together. based on time we might get breakfast then head out or just meet and go. Anyone in kc area is more than welcome to meet up and roll in with us. 10 deep at least down i/70 or 24/40 is gonna be a great photo op.

oh gang, and for those of you that dont do the meet and greet/show things much may i suggest. . go to walmart and buy a folding chair. 5 hours is one thing standing up and a whole other thing sitting down talking to the crew in a comfy chair

I think it would be a great opportunity to hang out some more and do a little tailgaiting. I'll be going for sure as we already have our tickets, but as it stands we are taking the shuttle bus to avoid traffic and parking costs. If there are others that would like to go and tailgate, well then I'll take the maggie. The game starts at 1200 and so we'd probably want to be there around 0930 or so. It's fun, social, and very engaging if you've never tailgated before, especially with a Magnum which almost seems built to tailgate (think direct current 12V outlet right in the trunk). Think about it!

I agree that 3pm is an awfully late start. I'm 2.5 to 3 hours away, so that would mean driving home late, in bug and deer season, not in love with that idea. I'd do it, but not in love with it.

Can someone from the Lawrence area scope out and give the addresses of good car washes? I'll probably be bug covered and would want to touch up before arriving at the dealer.

I used to live there. Checkers wasnt there but 23rd street was :sad:.
The city is basically one big square and the outside roads are some of the busiest. 6th, wakrusa, 23rd, massachusetes.
north 6th street has 3 or 4 between kasold and mass. If you come from the west you'll be coming in at 6th and kasold, from the north would be 6th and mass
23rd/k10 is another major road. If you come in from the east there are 2 before you get to mass street.
iowa, the main hot road down the middle of the city has one about 29th st on the south side.

The key to lawrence is to know your history and math. The city goes from 6th-33rd north to south respectfully. From east to west,states as they entered the union. Starting with new hampshire or so, and running to about iowa and then switching names to goofy stuff.

Can't tape the windshield.

also clinton lake isnt but a few miles away. We could always grab some groceries and do a dinner cookout afterwards . thunder. when we had our old club in lawrence there was a shirt and decal place in a small buidling around 23rd and haskell in front of that coutry bar (realize this was 8 years ago) . They did all our club work, they could do calenders, shirts, decals, coffee mugs whatever.

I think kc mopar wise we've got three coming so far out of 10. There are 7 i havent even heard from on a yes or no and one of them is posting on this thread MR SQUIGGLES so i'll have to see whats going on with them.

kc crew is meeting at 9 am at ihop at village west (ks speedway area) and rolling out together to checkers. We have not decided which rt. we are gonna take as of yet aka toll booth, stay together route, fastest route etc. whether we go k 10, i 70 , or 24/40 is up in the air and we are discussing it now on the c.f. since thats where 95% of our group is and the ones that are on this forum are all over there too so far.

I'm in SW Missouri, but I'm heading up super early that morning to check in with the dealership and wash the ride. I'm so ready for this to take place!! I doubt we all stay until 4p.m. If we do thats cool. Some have contacted me on anything past the meet at the dealership. I plan on dinner at a cool (I think) little 50's style (fast food, sort of) resteraunt called Spangles. After that drop the wife and kiddos off at the hotel room and head to my favorite bar where I spent most of my early 20's at. I think I did anyway, kind of fuzzy memories.:friday: Called the Pool Room. Plenty of parking at both places. Twelve days!!

Yep, getting stickers tomorrow and I'll bring them with me. I have shirts now, not sure I like how they turned out though. I might have to "tweek" them a little and buy more. I have 3 right now (and spoken for), if anybody wants them after looking at them, then we can take orders and get those started when I get back.
Might be putting a LXCentral calander together when I get back and get all of the photos developed.
