...for building a car that people actually want to buy and are willing to pay full boat for. I'm sick of looking at the "boycott Dodge" thread. No one was holding a gun to my head to buy this car and if you want to pay less than MSRP I'm sure they'd make you a sweet deal on a Durango. Or better yet, order an '09. I'm sure that there are lots of dealers willing to deal.

I had a chat with a guy while I was on the ferry heading to Ocracoke, NC. He asked about my car and when I told him I built them too, he was so excited telling me his brother just got his 2008 Challenger and paid $43,000 for it. He couldn't believe "such a fine car comes at a fine price" as he put it, and how happy his brother was with it.

I have car #2489 silver w/black stripes. I agree that $43K is worth every penny. I wouldn't trade mine for a GT500 Mustang and those are going for up to $50K around these parts.

I completely agree.

That thread is just sad. People bashing us because we paid what we felt it was worth TO US. Those than can, do. ;)

Keep saying that when within the next 2 years they are so flooded with Challengers that the value is worth half the MSRP. Welcome to my SRT8...

Yeah, except that I don't care what it will be worth in 2 years or 30 years. I bought the car to enjoy it NOW.

I also had an '06 Charger SRT8, thats what we traded in on the Challenger so I know how much it dropped in value. Again, didn't really care because we drove the hell out of that car for 2 years and loved every minute of it. And really, that's what it's all about. ;)

Praise... I just can't go that far.
Relieved, yes. It's about time.
How many months have past by that Mustang was the only player?
You can imagine what I think of the numb skulls at GM.

Yes, the Challenger is a much better 2 door muscle car coupe.
But why did it take so long.

I want Chrysler to flourish. But you aren't on top of your game when you let Ford get the lead they have.

The local dealership let me take one around a couple of blocks. I can see how if a person could swing it, it would be worth it. People sure turn to look at it too. Beautiful car. Please you lucky owners enjoy it to the fullest. And to the detractors, maybe we could keep the fellow member bashing off the boards.

That's what they said about Mustang Shelby GT500's a couple of years ago. Last I heard, Ford wasn't selling them for below MSRP as lots filled up. BTW,I'm comparing the GT500 to the SRT8, not all Challenger models.

The only thing I like about the Mustang GT500 is that with about $6,000 and a call to Kenne Bell, you can push 600-750HP pretty reliably with an otherwise bone stock GT500.. If the 6.1L Hemi could handle that kind of horsepower without shelling out for 426ci conversion, I'd be freakin' in dept up to my eye balls! But the reality of it is, there is no way to make that much horsepower from a 6.1 Hemi for 6 grand and that's why people pay $50,000 for a GT500.
Ps: I'll likely be trading in for a 6-speed Challenger next year anyway.. :beerchug:

there is already a tested supercharged challenger 6.1 L pushing 600+ horsepower so there goes that excuse for calling that supercharged cobra a shebly -_-.

I'm not sure what's worse, dealers who gouge prices or the fools who pay too much for things and make it possible.
These are the same people buying Wii's and PS3's for triple the price at Christmas.
If your willing to pay it I guess they are scummy enough to charge it.
Straight up American capitalism.

It's our American right to be a$$holes.
Embrace it.

For the record I never buy new. My slightly used R/T was $10K cheaper.
mama didn't raise no fool.

I agree. Dodge doesn't set the price, the dealers do. If Ford realized that you can change the name from Five Hundred to Taurus and it won't matter if the car is crap, they might be able to actually sell some cars. With the new Malibu, GM is finally learning the role of styling as it pertains to sales.

Any proof to back that statement up? Because to my knowledge, unless Dodge upgraded the 6.1 to forged internals or whatever, it won't make that much HP without serious problems..

Hey, I worked my ass off for many years to get to the point where I buy what I want. Drove hacked up POS cars and bikes for a long time.

If I choose to write that check, it's my call. Each of us has to figure it out. One of the best things you can do is learn to celebrate other peoples success, envy is a sad disease of the spirit.

And new cars are the WORST place to put your money. But I like that new car smell and the feeling that it is MINE alone. Can't get that used.

how is that bashing anyone?

he made a simple statement..

the resell on th LX's is crap,, he has car like many of us that he owes twice what the resell is because the value bottomed out of these cars with last years employee pricing..

I don't see how it is a bash on anyone..

by a Dodge or Chrysler today for $50K and next month you would be lucky to get $30K for it and next year $15K...

same with GM, Ford, and near any other American car, they just don't hold value..
