View Full Version : Run Car on Water?

OK, you know everyone is hurting from the rising costs of fuel, hense I am selling my Magnum.

Well I have come across many sites that state you can run your car on water, not totally, but as a hybred.

I have spent days looking for someone to say it is a scam or it does not work, but have yet to find one.

I have come across news articles from major players CNN, Anderson Cooper 360 and many others who state that it does work.

There are ovious reasons why the major public does not know about it, believe it or not, it would hurt the economy if everyone used half as much gas (In the short run anyways)

I was curious if anyone on here has actually tried this, there are many websites where you can find and buy the instructions, but I am not here promoting them, but you can easily google it.

If someone has tried it, I would love to know what their experiances were.

I plan to try this on my old Honda, heck for a couple bucks why not.

im interested in your findings/results..

i see the ads all the time for running your car on water..but never took the time to research it further than reading the ad, lol

Well all I can say is that what I am talking about is using Browns Gas (HHO)

It is well documented what Browns gas is and how it is derived.

What I find interesting, is how so many people in the above threads say it does not work, yet not a single person has even tried it.

I am sure if peoples cars would be seizing up or blowing up, the OPEC people would make sure it made front page news.

I love how people give all these scientific examples of why it should not work, but have never actually tried it.

You know of the saying "If it is too good to be true, it usually is"
But let's not forget the saying "The Proof is in the Pudding"

I was hoping that someone on here actually tried it, I guess I will have to be the guinea pig...oink oink

there are a few people out there that are trying it, but have not posted anything beyond installation. infact a couple seem to have forgot about their thread will doin the install lol. it is bein attempted its just a matter of gettin proof one way or the other posted.

i could have sworn that there are post on here, but i know for sure there are some on custommagnums.com...if you go there search for maggie hybrid and maggie hybrid II

WPTV, down in Florida, tested one of these devices on a Dodge Durango and showed a big improvement, but after evaluation it was determined that the test was seriously flawed. As a result, they are doing another test in conjunction with Florida Atlantic University. This is supposed to be a scientific test. The results are scheduled to air on July 29th on their 11:00 pm news. It will be on their website soon thereafter. Here is a link :

You may want to wait until after the 29th to make up your mind about these devices.

From their web site:
http://www.brownsgas.com/allyouneedtoknowaboutbrownsgasfuelsavers.html

"good Hydrogen system produce (at least) about 0.5 litters per minute"

OK. Our engines are 300 plus cubic inches.
At 1500 R.P.M. that engine processes 112500 cu. inches of air.
that's 1500 R.P.M. divided by 4 (4 stroke motor) times 300 cu. in.

Edit for math

It should be 225000 cu. in. of air per minute. Two revolutions per power stroke not 4.

Point 5 Litre is 30.5 cu.in.
Even as a small supplement, how can 30 cu.in. per minute have any effect on an engine pushing out over 10,000 cu.in. of air in 1 minute?
You'd have to have 100 units running at peak efficiency to have 30% supplement.
Any boost to economy would be negated by the diesel gen set you would have to pull to provide the power to crack the water.

Am I right or not?

From an engineering stand point, you are 99.999% correct. Simply put, it would take more energy to produce the HHO than you would get out of it.

Gasoline is a mixture of molecules of carbon and hydrogen. When the carbon burns (combines with oxygen) it gives off heat and becomes mostly carbon dioxide. When the hydrogen burns, it combines with oxygen, produces heat and becomes water.

Water is hydrogen that has been burned. There isn't any heat to be derived from putting it through your engine. Ask any chemist if you want to see him/her laugh.

Back in the late 70s UCLA "I think" Built and ran a water powered car till either a Car company or oil company made the car and idea disapear.
It was big news for about a day. Oil companies don't like it for obvious reasons and Car makers would lose millions on replacement parts, my understanding is water creates no hydrocarbons, hydrocarbons cause wear and tear on motors. At least this is cwhat I heard!

I do remember the car though and students and Proffesors drinking water from the exhaust!

I still havent seen it with my own eyes.

Gee you're looking for someone to tell you it's all bs? OK, it's all bs. Instead of cutting 6th grade Earth Science, you should have stayed.

All of these big TV News at 6 stories about "running your car on water" are all imbeciles hyping research on fuel cells and hydrogen. Water is broken down through electrolysis into hydrogen gas and oxygen gas. You can then either run a fuel cell or burn the hydrogen. The problem? The electrolysis of water requires tremendous amounts of energy. So you can replace your $4/gal gallon of gas for $50 worth of hydrogen.

mythbusters attempted it and couldnt get it to work BUT before they tested it on a car (after building it) they did prove that you could start and run car off hydrogen.

here is a video...now it has an explination of why it failed but i couldnt find another one that was just the busters lol

There is validity to using HHO as a supplement but with a computer controlled vehicle you would need a way to tell the computer that it was being used. The computer "sees" the extra O2 and assumes a lean burn. SO, it adds more fuel.

It does work well in older cars with carbs and no O2 sensors though. A neighbor has one on his chevy van and gets a 5PMG boost. Too bad it does not work well, or at least I can't find a way to make it work well, with the LX.

Auto makers worldwide, including countries that import 100% of the oil they use, spend tons of money to increase mileage of their vehicles.

CAFE standards* require certain averages for the manufacturer's fleet. If they were able to put in a cheap, efficient device that allowed them to meet the CAFE standard, they would use it.

"on his chevy van and gets a 5PMG boost."

BS. It is no great revelation that Mythbusters could get a car to burn H2, but the little aluminum cylinder from the "dealers wanted" people, you bolt into your car that "generates" H2 is nonsense.

Read the 7th paragraph down:

http://www.aa1car.com/library/gas805.htm

Also, found this quote on another site: Remember: if there was a gizmo, magnet, or special "injector" you could put under your hood to boost your car's mileage 20%, GM and Ford would put them on every new SUV. Instead, they are closing SUV factories and losing billions of dollars.

Also, as a side note, I work for a well known lawnmower company (internationally known) and we have 5 test mowers that run on 100% hydrogen. It took over $1MILLION dollars to develope the system in it, it is proving verry difficult to find a consistant supply of hydrogen to power them AND, they don't go as far as the diesel version (which has a SMALLER feul supply).

Yeah, but those thousands of automotive engineers don't have time to check the internet to know about all the secret technology. LOL.

The sad thing about all this is the money spent on all this junk and how sad the education system is in this country that people swallow stuff that a science class in grammar school could debunk.

Dude chill out, your a bit over the top.

He does not "Run his van on HHO" he uses it as a supplement. He uses hho injected into the air stream to increase octane rating and is able to retard his timing a bit further and lean out the carb.

Just because you can't get your head around something does not mean its BS. There are, believe it or not, smarter people out there than you doing things that you could never comprehend.

Enjoy your day, in the shadows.

So he "retards his timing" to increase mileage. True genius. I think with 2 degrees in Chemistry I can "get my head around it". It is obvious that while pursuing your career in shoe sales or whatever, you never did any experiments in electrolysis. You 2 guys should write this up and send it in to the US patent office. You might even make it on Leno's show. But be VERY, VERY, careful. Remember what happened to the guy with the 100 (or was it 1000) mpg carb.........
