I have tryed for over a year, to get mirrors that power fold-away like the side mirrors on the Mercedes benz. Someone on the Chrysler300/SRT-8forum. had recived a pair from a contact in Europe. Can anyone give the link to this other forum?

Folding power mirrors= you fold them yourself.
Power folding mirrors=you push a button the the mirrors fold themselves. :racing:

I cant say I've noticed the difference between the euro bumper and the stateside bumper, whats the difference?
Also how did you connect the mirrors so the remote works them, thanks

The foglights in the rear bumper would be the main difference.
Saleen, do you have a part number for your mirrors? Maybe we can see what Adam@Eastway can do for us.

I've talked to Adam at Eastway about this. He can see the parts in the computer but the parts system does not let him order them!!! Eastway is in Canada, maybe US dealers don't have this restriction.
So even if we get the correct part numbers, we may not be able to source the parts.
Next step is to find a friendly US Mopar dealer who will be willing to see if the parts can be ordered. Anybody have any contacts?
Oh and in addition to the mirrors you will need the special mirror control switch - it has a postion at the bottom to fold.

no the 300 mirrors have a different base than the chargers. the mirrors won't fit flush on a charger door and will not bolt up correctly.. I learn this the hard way..

You know - this is pretty frustrating. This thread is almost a year old and the people who have done it or have access to the parts have kept it HUSH HUSH with no help for the members here????
What's the point???
I thought that the point of being part of a forum was so that we could help each other out.
NEWS FLASH: At any given time there are 50 300 cars of all variations that I see on the road everyday and guess what - NONE OF THEM LOOK LIKE MINE and so therefore My 300 does not look like their's either. And this forum although Large in its membership is only but a small miniscule percentage (0.01% if that) of actual LX owners on the road.
I guess what I am so frustratated about is the lack of assistance from the ones "in the know" for nothing more then selfishness.
OK I'm off my soapbox now.
Whenever I get some time I will dedicate towards this and see if I can figure it out and of course I will spread the wealth (Knowledge).

Power Multi-Function Foldaway Mirrors
Auto Dim Exterior Passenger Mirror
Exterior Mirrors w/Supplemental Signals
Exterior Mirrors Courtesy Lampsis an option for 2009 300c's (luxury group II)
maybe we dont need to go over seas to get the parts, unless that means its a power mirror with respect to moveing it around and a manual fold away
EDIT: that was from chrysler.ca, its worded a little different on chrysler.com
Multi-Function Fold-Away Power Mirrors
Automatically-Dimming Exterior Passenger Mirror
Exterior Mirrors with Supplemental Signals
Exterior Mirrors with Courtesy Lamps
by the wording of the chrysler.com one it doesnt sound like they are power folding... so my post is pretty much useless haha, sry

I talked to Rob at Moparpartz today and he said the valueline switch is like AC Delco is to GM parts. He also told me that the valueline switch part number was not export in his catalog. Also, the corresponding switch in the Mopar was slightly different - 4602781AA. Description comes up as power window switches. I had him look up the 4602736AA and then give me the corresponding Valueline number and it came back with the V7700002AA part number. So I guess its right. He said the switches should be the same so I am saving $100. I ordered the switch to see what comes.

The switches are different because there is a position on the switch at the 6 oclock that tell the mirrors to fold in.
I had them check for both because there is no base model for Europe. They only sell the 3.0L CRD, 3.5L V6, 5.7L V8 HEMI with the chrome mirrors and the the 300C trim, then there is the 300C SRT8 w/ the body colored mirrors. That's why I got both part numbers.
I'm still waiting on the prices. I'll re-send them email to him.
From what I understand the mirrors are plug and play. Replace the mirrors, replace the switch and your off.You can adjust the mirrors as you would normally do, then when you want to fold them in you turn the switch to the "6 o'clock" position on the switch and they close.

THis is awesome!!!!
Great job!

you will have to wire the mirrors for american cars. we do not have the wiring for the power fold option, also on base model cars you will need a new connector on the door end to fit into the mirror and wire the connector to match up to the mirror.
this is what i had to do.

Here is the part numbers with price in Euros. I don't know why the SRT prices are so high. Maybe it has to do with the fact tht car cost almost $100K over here.
German Power Folding Mirror Assembly for the Left and Right Side:

- 300C Left Side Mirror Assembly, 04805979AL 297,20 € + Tax

well, presumably the mirror caps are the same between the two cars (except the finish), just like over here. So why dont you just buy the C mirrors (which will have the chrome caps), then swap the caps for your paint matched ones.
Just remember, 300 and magnum mirrors are interchangeable, 300 mirrors wont fit on a charger.

Hi
Referring to one comment in the thread about plug an play, they are not!!!!!
if you have a standard harness to you power mirrors then you probably have a black 12 way, power folding mirrors have a green 16 way, I know because I am doing a conversion to my mirrors an all I am adding is the turn signal(in the mirror itself) its proved to be a nightmare, I could not find a used or new 16 way harness to exchange for my 12 way, believe me I used all my resources. Auto Customs of Cincinnati did the mirrors for me,they put the cover on the outside so I would have both inside and outside signals they just spliced into the mirror signal, but the pin was a 16 way and I had a 12 way. On the passenger side I removed the black 12 way so that I still had the existing pins,no go,without the plastic the pins will not stay in place, so I sent the mirrors back so they could remove the 16way and replace it with a 12 way and leave 2 extra wires with it to connect my turn signals, however even if I did have a 16 way harness I do not know if that black box in the door is correct to use as it is not intended to use turn signal mirrors so >I do not know if you have to change out that black box to incorporate a folding mirror as that same switch goes to the black box also, so to make it short you need the right harness or connections and maybe a new black box to incorporate the folding mirrors,if you have standard no power mirrors then you should check if you have any harness at all or the ability to connect.:blam:

This mod had me intigued from the begining so I had a look at the wiring diagrams in the 2006 300 service manual. For those that may be interested, the pages to look at in the manual are 8W-62-2 to 8W-62-6. There are two types of circuits, one is with memory, the second without. Fundamentally without memory, the mirrors bypass the door module. With memory, the mirror is contolled by the door module both to the switch and after the switch. The memory type mirror comes in two favors as well. They both have memory controls but the folding mirror comes without drivers side auto-dim for the export market but with auto-dim and no folding for the domestic market.
From what I can see, it should be quite simple to install the folding mirrors if you can get the harness connectors for the export memory version. You'll need one for the passenger mirror and one for the switch. The switch connector has two additional terminals which are single 20ga wired and then split into four 20ga wires, two wires to each mirror. The new passenger export mirror connector gets two of the four new wires. The drivers mirror is different. The two terminals (#8 and #11) for the auto-dim feature are the terminals that are used for the folding mirror motor. Just cut the wires and splice in the two new wires from the switch.
The whole thing boils down to this. If you have the memory feature you're in good shape because you can sell your old mirrors and get a few bucks. If you don't have the memory feature, you're going to spend money on mirrors that won't be fully functional unless you replace the door module and install new harnesses and you get less or your old mirrors.

I though I should add this to my previous post and keep in mind that I'm taking about the 2006 model that didn't come with the turn signals. In theory, based on the circuit diagrams, you could keep your existing door switches and switch connectors. A separate momentary DPDT switch could be installed to do the "folding" function to replace the "180 degree switch" function of the Euro switches. With this approach you can keep the switches you have now and add one more. You would still have to get the Euro connectors for the mirrors and you would still have to cut the connectors #8 and #11 at the drivers door switch.
So.....now the DC parts list is the two Euro folding mirrors and the mirror connectors. The rest of the parts (wiring and the DPDT switch) are shelf items in your local parts store.
Now, as a separate item, maybe we should be looking for the company that manufactured these mirrors for DC? Just a thought.

There are two MoPar part numbers for the mirror switch:
56040 524AE (this one is for all LX bodies-line codes C,D,E and F)
56040 536AF (this is for an LX body -line code Z) the parts manual does not explain what line code Z means but it may be for the Euro versions.

From what was said earlier in the thread, the US dealerships don't have access to the international parts, and visa versa. If it wasn't stock/option on the US ones, they don't know/have access to it. If I remember right (it is in this thread somewhere), you need a different wiring harness than the one used on any US LX, not to mention the folding mirrors themselves.

I'm still confused, in fact, more confused. My 2006 300C (US market) has Auto Dim on at least the driver's side mirror. It is labeled as "Auto Dim" and has some kind of heater/defroster function when I activate the car's rear window defogger. But I can also control its movement electrically by rotating a circular button in front of the power window buttons (drivers side). I also programmed the mirrors via the EVIC to automatically fold down when in reverse. Are we talking about the same thing here?

For Folding Mirrors we are talking about this (sorry for the ugly pics...):
From the standard position of the mirror:
http://img39.imageshack.us/img39/9863/fold1.jpg
to the "closed" position of the mirror:
http://img200.imageshack.us/img200/1020/fold2j.jpg
On the 300C with Mirrors with Auto Dim this operation has to be done manually.
With Power Folding Mirrors you turn the mirrors control knob 180° and it's done electrically.
Obviously both Auto Dim and Power Folding Mirrors have the "reflective glass" adjustable electrically.

:doh::banghead:
The mirrors fold towards the side of the car with a motor. It's an option on the euro models because of narrow streets and narrow garages. The switch to fold the mirrors looks the same as the ones made for the north american market except it has one more feature. The toggle that you use now to position the glass in the mirror can be twisted 180 degrees and this activates the power fold function.

It's really not important at all. However, everytime I put the car in my garage (daily) I sweat. I've got an inch clearance each side so it would be a "nice to have".
Some people would also like to have the mirrors simply for the "unique and cool" factor. I guess to each his own and after all, not all mods are entirely functional.
