This link should help with the wheel/tire fit and let you know about MPH changes.

As far as rubbing... I have seen others here with that 255 up front and up to 295 in back.
I kept the 245/45/20 in front and went to 275/45/20 out back. A little taller in the rear looks kind of old school - I like!

The 255x55x18 are the biggest tire for the stock rims, they are about 3/4 of an inch taller. The 245x55x18 are the same height as the stock tires.

I've seen a couple LX's with 255/55R18's on the stock RT wheels.
They do fill the wheel well nicely.
They "calculate" at 29 inches tall as compared to the stock 225/60R18's 28.6 inches tall.
In appearance, they seem too wide for the wheel width. The rubber bulges quite a lot from the rim.
I don't know who makes a 245/55R18 tire, but I believe that you would like that look the best. Wider but maybe not too wide in appearance. Same diameter, so no speed calculations necessary.
Good luck with your quest.

I have a set of Toyo Proxes 255/55/18's and simply love them.
They fit the wheel wells nicely and give my Magnum sort of a NASCAR look.
Check out this link for somone who put 255/50/18's on the front and 275/55/18 on stock rims of a Charger.

The ones that I have are the one's on the front, but Mine are 255/55/18. Work very well.
I chose to not go with 20's or 22's because I always "Rashed" my previous low-profile wheels.
Look around in the Used Tire places...
The Proxes are usually take offs from Smaller Trucks.
I got my entire set for $240...
Good Luck.

I have Nitto NT420S 255/55/18 on my Magnum and what a difference.
These are by far the best tires I have put on the Mag. The side wall sticks out over the rim just a little bit, but does not look bad.
Have no clearance problems. Also to add they have a bad ass looking tread pattern.

I have a set up these tires on the way. Although I don't like the way they look, the seem to be an extremely good bang for your buck.
