OK, I have learnd a lot from reading your post. I have a 5.7 with FRI Street strip Heads and Sidwinder cam, longtubes, coustom fuel rails, ETC, So I have a coustom dyno tune for my car. I know Nitrous is for the track, wich I will use it at, once my 392 is in. The motor is going in next month so I want to get used to Nitrous.
SO what do I do with the preditor? I see I will need to take 4 degreass of timeing for a 100 shot,
How do I do this? DO I modyfiy my coustom tune by removeing 4 degreass? How much effect dose 4 degreas have on dayly driveing?
I hear some say they make there own Nitrous tune, by modifying stock, takeing a way the timeing and adding fuel, then raze the idel and call it a day.
Im sorry I have already blown this 5.7 up once back in the day, not looking to do it again. MIKE

First off i would take the programmer completely off. it makes most of its power by advancing timing. I've seen mine as much as 32degrees + and you need to be -4 so you need to be careful. other than that i'd love to know what others are doing too

get a CMR tune and have the person who is tuning your car make a tune that has 4 degrees pulled, so you can hve the best of both worlds, a predator tune and safe for n2o

I would like to know though how you go into the predator and verify the timing, as I have never done it. I would like to see what my CMR tuner did just to make sure it has 4 degrees pulled but have never done it by myself

Why not speak with the individual that made your custom tune? Personally, for a 100 shot I would just pull some timing (Don't know if you are running the ZEX kit but their suggested pills tend to run rich so adding fuel may not be necessary) in the quick adjust section when you are at the track.
I have been running a 75 shot since fall of 2006 with the superchips and now CMR tuned predator. I have never adjusted fuel or timing and even have milled FRI econo heads for bumped compression. I do have colder plugs and check them pretty frequently.
I can understand your concern since you already blew a motor (sorry to hear it) but these motors are pretty darned strong.
BTW - I wouldn't suggest spraying a 100 shot off the line.
Good luck

I have yet to spray my 100 shot off the line, I usually flip the switch about 3K rpms. I think my car would spin out and I dont want to run the risk of snapping a half shaft

Why don't you do some data logging to see how things are working? Record RPM, KNK ST Retard, KNK LT Retard, KNK Total Retard. If you are getting any KNK Retard at all during WOT, I'd say you need to back off your timing in the RPM range you are getting it. Then test with the Nitrous. Adjust Timing accordingly. I have a wide band A/F guage and I hope if you are running nitrous you do too. Between the data logging and watching the A/F guage you should be able to adjust your tune to be safe.
No I don't have a Hemi or nitrous but the suggestions above are valid.

I do have an AF gauge, and during WOT and n2o runs it is in the good range. Sometimes it runs a tad bit rich but that is Ok with me

Like one sound earlier just get N/A and Nitrous tune and worries are over..When you want to spray just swap tunes,in a matter of seconds..

Thanks. Well the tuner issue is kindof a sore subject, my tuner is actully my fu roommate, I changed my came over a month ago and Im still wateing on him to give me a street tune on my new cam. I just left the sidewinder tune in, But I have ran out of addapitives, and at WOT Im at 11.2 to 10.5 fuel ratio so at wot Im super rich. But I have no nock. Im going to be replaceing my 5.7 with a 392 next mounth and I wanted to play with the 5.7 before the 392
I would rathere blow the 5.7 up before messing the 392 up.
So if I have a modded car, and wanted to use the dealbo to make a nos tune< What settings would I use?
So your saying once I have the 392 in and tuned, have the tuner make a copy of that file and just remove 6 degreass for my 150 shot?

But i dont go to the track at all, all of my n2o runs are on the street. So I have one tune that does it all. I know i lose some HP having the timing retarded the whole time, but you never know when youre on the street and need to use your n2o :)

My racing is going to be the same way, It takes to long to change tunes, I was just on MSD web site looking at there HEMI timeing retard controler, its a little pricey, but it seams like the only way to have street strip.
But how do I make a basic NOS tune with the predoitor.

What RPM range is it going rich? You can adjust WOT fuel with the predator. Decide what rpm range it goes rich and go 1% lean in that range then test again. Also maybe your fuel jet in your setup for nitrous is too big.
Try this: do a WOT run with out spraying and watch your A/F guage. Adjust your fuel accordingly. After you get it adjusted without spray then test with the nitrous, watching the A/F guage and then if it's running way rich you can go lower on the fuel jet in your nitrous setup. Main 2 things to remember is: Get it tuned without nitrous, do some data logging and check for KNK retard. Once it's right without nitrous then you can adjust the fuel jet up or down to get the proper A/F with the spray going.
I think it should be between 12/1 and 12.5/1 for the Hemi at WOT.

The air fuel is based off my all motor tune. The nos set up is going in this weekend. SO Im trying to get ready. I think i will just make my own tune like you said. So from stock I need to remove 6 degreass?

100 shots were 2 degrees per zex
