damn that is scary. Dont they have burst panels that go on intake manifolds for that sort of thing? Heard we didnt need them on the hemi, but any safety feature like that would be good

His nitrous bottle was probably hot. I seriously doubt it was the nano, but you never know. Nano sends you a temperature sensative sticker for your bottle so you can see what temp its at. There is an operating range they recommend. I have yet to really pay attention to it, lol.

he was incredibly lucky. That can blow the whole intake right off the motor!

Now picture that happening to plastic-intaked 5.7L...

Not gonna ever go on my car that's for sure...

That car was running a plastic FAST intake. That intake does have provisions for burst plates, but he never mentioned running any.

Do it right and run it. Respect it, but don't be scared.

Happened to my Mustang GT 4.6L. Believe me, it was not a pretty sight or sound. Thought someone had shot a shotgun inside my car.

There is a slim chance that that NANO reg is not regulating correctly BUT it will pop at 1800 psi and ifthe reg is not working it will pop that real quick and it wouldnt have to be hooked up to do that.

Dude needs to swing by a paintball shop and have them check out the output pressure and make sure its at 1000-1100 psi.

I'm not convinced it was a nitrous backfire . Isn't it possible it was just a hood failure? Hard to believe a plastic intake would survive but blow off the hood. That car really launches!

Ummm, was the camera sitting solidly on the hood of an idling Top Fuel Dragster? lol

He's looking into things deeper, it's one of the local MN guys that has run the juice for quite some time sucessfully on his f-body. Heres a couple of quotes he had on a local forum trying to figure out what really happened.

-Im starting to think that when the nano system spiked up to ~1300 PSI the nitrous noid shut down due to too mush pressure and the gas noid was still going and caused a huge backfire..

-Well, the NANO guys called me today and are wanting to see my bottle/regulator. So, I am sending it back. After talking to them, we both agree the regulator decided not to work. So, I am getting a new one.

According to Tom at Nano and the user the nano bottle wwas filled through the wrong port possibly damaging the regulater. Im not so convinced it was from a solenoid failure though. It looks more like a lean pop to me. hard to tell at this point since I was not there.

I guess Mustangs have built in Burst Panels :)

What's with the quivering cam. Kind of made my eyes hurt but was worth watching the mustang hood launch into orbit.

Man Check the thread again. His plugs do not look good..Definitly went lean somewhere..

ouch those plugs are banged up!! def. a lean spike

Correct...I seriously doubt it was a single problem that caused the backfire.....typically when then happens down track it is a lean condition. The increase in bottle pressure alone should not have caused a severe swing in A/F ratio, if it was correct to begin with.
