18" Rims on Srt8 Charger

Anyone know any 18" black rims that weight 19-23 lbs that will clear and fit the srt8 charger. Atleast clear the back if not the front? I want be put something like 295/40/18's in the rear and keep 245/40/18's in the front

Hey, not sure of any prefabricated ones but if you give your requirements to HRE they will send you a 3 piece forged wheel to meet your requirements. If only I could justify spending that much on wheels.

You may have a problem with differing tire diameters.
The 245/40R 18 are 25.7"
The 295/40R 18 are 27.3"

From what I've been told/read, Hal doesn't like differing diameter tires. I don't know how much variation Hal will tolerate.

So you think a 255/40/18 on the fronts would work better?

I guess finding 275/40/18's drag radials in the back and 255/40/18 on the fronts would work better. Maybe Even 19 inch. I would just like to see a weight reduction more than anything.

You should talk to meister as he has the SRT-8 type brakes on his 300 with 18 inch rims, or ask Junior he will know what wheels they are. They look like a really nice aftermarket wheel.

I too would like to know this answer. Im trying to put 305s on an 18" wheel, but cant find any lightweight ones that are over 9" wide.

You can fit them with a spacer...some do for racing but I WOULDN'T drive around all the time on spacers needed wheels.

FYI, i dont remember his name, but some guy took his SRT charger and put on the stock 18s from and RT on all 4 corners and put on 255/50 or 245/50 (cant remmeber) and took it to the track and went from a constant 13.1 stock to a constant 12.8 stock, he atributed it to the lighter wheel setup and smaller DIA.

alot of road race and drag race cars are starting to pick up the trend of setting small wide stocker tires on smaller wheels than normal. i see alot of road racing srts goin with 16s that are wide and sticky from the stock 17s, and i saw a srt at a local road course with 18s that were small wide and sticky too

I just checked, 33 lbs for a bare SRT forged wheel. And the difference will be diminished a bit more if you end up using a 50 series tire to maintain stock OD. You'd be exchanging aluminum for rubber & belt material.

But hey, experimentation is always good!

srt bare rims are indeed 33 to 34lbs if memmory serves me correct, the stocks 18s are right in at about 19lbs, youll notice a difference right off the break with that. a fully inflated 18 is about mid 30s, maybe a tad less, where as a srt wheel inflated is about 55lbs or so

We are sort of doing the same thing with the new Challenger. Going to 18 inch rims even though the new Challnger rims are considerably less weight. The kicker for us was the availabilty of tires in the 20 inch range for street and track is ONE (NITTO). Where as in the 18 inch the tire vendors are coming out with more tires each year. Unfortuantly the cost factor for custom forged wheels are high as you are looking a spending at least $500-600 per wheel.

Either CCW or Bogarts...they are not cheap. But then again folks are paying that and more for 22 -24 inch rims for show.... so I guess it one of those your got to pay to play...

I'm currently running 18" ASA AR1's (3mm spacer up front) w/ Firestone Winterforce tires on my '09 Bee. Only bad part is, they're silver, not black like you want.

Ok so now the question is.. is there different recommendations for the roadtrack compared to the 1/4mile. I want better performance at both, thus imagine that going down to 18's would give me that. So the question, what type and size of tire. Do you want a big side wall. I would be happy with a 295 on the rears, and the fronts a 225, maybe even a 215 for width. And then obviously an 18 inch rim. So do we want a huge sidewall like 60? I am also planning on lowering the car and maxing out the KW V2 coil overs.

So any suggestions?
