Well guys, 2008 is here and the East Coast just woke the hell up. Absolutely tremendous conditions today at MIR. Temps in the upper 30's most of the day, baro 30.30 +, low humidity..... DA hovering around -1700 to -1300 all day long.

I fasted for the last 3 days....just bread and water so my petite 300C weighed in at 4050lbs.

First run of the day is typically my best so I got to the track an hour early, let it cool down and came out of the gate ready to go with 20psi in the Mickey T's hoping for the best. However the tires were just not having anything to do with it..... spin city:

2.076 60' resulted in 12.30 @ 115.40 which ended up being my best MPH of the day. That was the run I was looking for.....damn it.

Hot lapping a few times resulted in:

1.74, 12.05 @ 113.04
1.75, 12.04 @ 113.65
1.73, 12.01 @ 114.03

So I decided to give her a break and cool things down for almost an hour. With ECT around 135, I decided to pull the accessory belt for the next run resulting in my quickest of the day around noon time:

1.77, 11.95 @ 115.13

The belt went back on after seeing ECT around 220 in the return lane.....

I changed shifting techniques several times throughout the day and come to realize the car, despite the 5250 power curve indicated on the dyno, still liked to be manually shifted at 6400-6500, holding it in third crossing the line at 6550.

Eliminations began with the DA worsening (if you can call -1300 bad :) ) but ECT just about right at 140 deg, dial in set to 12.00. It was a classic LX matchup RobAgd Magnum against the silver C. We both must have psyched each other out cause Rob and I both hit the big red light....I was only saved by the fact that he got the head start due to dial in so I had the default win..... time to go balls to the wall. Result:
11.98 @ 114.27

Not only did I nail a new best, Robert (Brilliant Black Hemi), Rob ( RobAGD) and Chris Cpl Daugherty all bested their prev records in one way or another and especially big congrats go to Rob for pushing the Magnum deep into the 12's for the first time.

Great time, you set the bar higher once again. I have a good feeling this won't be the only NA 5.7 this year to hitting 11s.

I am sorry but if everybody isn't impressed with this then they must read all forum posts from 1 year ago and back. We were thrilled with 13 sec runs from the 5.7.

Thanks much guys....feeling a bit like an attention whore at the moment but I will be damned if I am not stilll reliving the moment in my head!!!

Jim, I know things have been quiet on your end...maybe a little too quiet??....you have to be within striking range as well I would assume? I got to admit, I felt like there were a few of us slamming things together for March madness.

Thanks for the updated football Stell.

The west coast has its spots also Sacremento Speedway is 50 ft elevation and during the same months gets some comparable DA

Its a shame that there is such a small window in the spring and fall that the DA allows us to get the good times and the rest of the year sometimes doesn't seem worth going cause we know we won't even get close to our best times.

Well said Al, that's why when Chris called me at 0800 after I went to bed at 0400 and told me what the DA was gonna be, I scrambled to get everything ready and get out there. Glad I did too, cause I set a new personal mph record.

I know I did the same thing when I would see the weather at times we all do.
On the flipside sometimes you see the weather and its hot and humid and you think whats the point

Sometimes opportunities like that only come around a couple times a year and you can't let them go by, you gotta grab em

I usually give up on those 90+deg days but anything below that is fair game...... track time is track time in my book. Might not set any records but you still can learn a hell of a lot about the car......preparing for those record setting months.

I hear that ^^^^.. I need all the practice I can get hot or not! It's not like any of use are gonna be setting track records w/these cars anyways right? It should be more fun than anything..... At least thats what I hope for.

I thought at one point about just hooking up a small shot for those summer days just to keep things even.

Best I've seen at Sac was -900 on New Years but if Track temp is below 60 it's 1/8 mile only.To many Heroes scraping the walls:sad:
Back in the day Fremont(Baylands) was the place to go fast .15 quicker than Sac with equal DA.Sea Level with a breeze comin off the bay those were the days.

I don't mind racing when it is hot. All the other cars are running slow too, so all those mustang owners can still eat my dust. :)
