Is it possible to import a new 300 SRT model to the U.S.A?

It's such a shame that FCA ignored & screwed it's loyal North American consumer base by not offering the 3rd generation 300 SRT. Just wondering if importing a 2017 or 2018 300 SRT to the states would be feasible without a bunch of rep tape?

First two things you would need to know - (1) does it conform to U.S. emissions standards, (2) does it conform to U.S. crash safety standards?

Next I guess start checking in on auto importers as they have probably already dealt with whether or not you can import this specific model.

I'd sure like to know...not like I could afford at this point to get a brand new 300 SRT brought over from Saudi or Australia or wherever, but it'd be interesting to know anyway!

You might need to pay to have it EPA/DOT certified, which in most cases would be cost prohibitive...or wait until it's more than 25 yrs old. The R34 Skyline GTRs will be 25 soon.

What about warranty? The factory warranty is only good on cars registered in the country it was built for so even If you could do this, you would probably have to buy your own warranty.

Not cost effective to import but considering the low price of the 2015 5.7 models, it would not be too hard to add mild boost to the 5.7 or drop a heads/cam 6.4 in. Then just add your choice of oem 3.07 or 3.70 rear end, srt/hellcat brakes, a set of wider wheels and hellcat or srt swaybars. With that you would be exceeding the performance of a new 300srt while sticking with nearly all oem parts. The new 300srt does not even include the larger brakes or wider wheels that the domestic srts now include.

I am not a fan of the current Charger styling and have thought this through if I went with a newer 300. Its about 20k for the car (mileage wont matter so maybe even cheaper) plus about 10k in mods for a solid 500+whp 3rd gen 300 "srt".

My temptation would be more towards finding the lowest-mile 2014 300 SRT I could get, and gather up the parts to swap the newer items on where possible. There's posts of people that have done the taillight swap, though from what I understand it's a little tricky to get working right.

It's not horrible. If anyone needs help with wiring them up they can message me. If you've already got a 2015+ 300, then you already have the right back bumper, just need a different lower part. ;)

And a new front bumper is rather easy as you have all the other parts as well.

Where are they built, Brampton?

New 300s hemi have same front and rear and interior. They have deals at 35k now. As others said... Add mopar engine parts to boost it up in power, and the srt 300 rear diffuser and tips. Direct fit. Does mopar sell a brembo 4 pot kit to upgrade 5.7 brakes , or only the big brembo 6 pot upgrade for an existing brembo 4 pot set up?

No kit that I know of. It is super expensive to swap a 5.7L car over to Brembo 4 or 6's, partly due to the different spindles needed for Brembo cars and those things are about $700 each and you need four of them. Got to find this stuff used or it just get a crazy $$$.

Yeah they're made in Brampton.

The 300S also needs the S appearance package to look like the SRT. I was so confused when people were like.. "i have a 2017 300S, and it looks like every other years "S".. and then another person was like.. this is my 2017 "S" and it looked like the SRT appearance package.

Oi.

However regarding what we are stuck with here in the USA vs Export SRT 300 (ME/Australia).... we get the hyperblack SRT appearance standard on a US 5.7L 300S with optional bronze accent package available. I however think Chrysler should have put standard SRT active exhaust on the Hemi 300s by now. 2017+ Charger R/T now get active exhaust. Since Charger V6 now can get an SRT appearance. 2019 300s should allow for some tweaks to be closer to the export SRT. Active Exhaust with SRT lower valance and Super Track Suspension option

I rode by SRT couple weeks ago and saw two 300 SRTs leaving the building together. They were both black and had red brake calipers but couldn't tell if they were 4 or 6-pistons. They looked and sounded bad ass. Don't know what they were doing with them and if this means they are thinking about bringing the SRT back to NA, I sure wish they would.

According to a pdf obtained from the NHTSA, in the link that you provided, the only difference I can see is that for Canada, a grey market vehicle can only be imported if it is over 15 years old. In the US it is 25.

Click on "Vehicle importation guidelines (non canadian)" on the page that you provided third bullet from the top.

So the basic answer is, no. You cannot import a 300C SRT from the middle East, as it does not conform to US or Canadian safety standards. ( It's bureaucratic bull****- I know) As if the car will magically conform if it is over 15 or 25 years old.

Been thinking about building my own also. My wife had a 2014 300 S and I loved that car. Used 2018-2019 300 S are dirt cheap with the 5.7L option and very low miles. They have the old SRT look with bumper, rear trunk spoiler and side splitters. You can swap the diff out fairly easy for the 3.09 limited slip (Or the 3.70). Bolts right up. No axles or tune required.

Drop the 5.7L and throw on a 426 short block. Places like MMX will give you credit for your 5.7L block in exchange for the 6.4L build. Eagle Heads flow enough to support 650 hp. Only thing you would be missing is the adaptive suspension. SRT performance pages can be programed in. (I have them on my 2013 charger)

Break down of my costs and quotes: $1000 Diff, around $10,000 for short block, PSI springs, pushrods and cam installed and tuned, $1500 set of longtubes (No charge for install) and I firgured $3000 for nice wheels and tires. Cost of the 300 S with the 5.7L is around $25,000. Total invested is $40,500 which is less than the cost of a scat pack with zero options and the automatic transmission. (Transmission on the 300 S is the same as the scat packs)

Once the 300 goes away in 22, it will begin to be possible in a few years. I tried for over a year with my friend in Australia. We even tried stupid money, and it's impossible to have one here, and register it. My buddy has a 17, and could come to the states for 12-18 months for work, and it was still impossible to have it here, and have plates. This is the 19 I was working to get.

Would it be easier to bring one in as a parts car.

I had a well driven by me a 2012 Black CSRT, among other CSRT's of varying MY's 2007-2008 and 2 2012's.

I traded it at a Calgary dealership for an identical one (right down to the buildsheet) that was at a small town Alberta dealer in Lloydminster. The car had less than 1300 kms on it. I actually thought it was a typo, until I saw a pic of the odometer. Did a registry search, as well as a carfax at the time- no accidents no liens. So I made a deal and had Varsity Chrysler ship it to Calgary. This was back in Dec of 2017.

I still have the car. It is a garage queen, and now in July of 2021, it has exactly 5806 kms on it (3607 miles). I realized while owning it, that this car is a potential unicorn, so I decided that it is not to be any sort of daily driver.

Every couple of months I take it through its paces close to home, and that is it. Has never seen snow- ever.

Today I have googled all over north America for any example that may even remotely come close to this mileage in the used car market. You'd be hard-pressed to find one with less than 30,000 miles.

At this point the car is an investment. It is a blessing and a curse at the same time, as I cannot enjoy it, other than looking at it in my garage. If the SRT model is being discontinued for the rest of world, I may have the only one left in existence, that has not seen its 1st official oil change yet.

Of course I HAVE changed the oil. But it is not due until 10,000km according to the dealer service sticker on the windshield.

As for what it may be worth, is anyone's guess, as there is no precedence of one even close to its mileage anywhere for sale that I could find.

I'd love to turn it into a project SRT hellcat, as the example earlier in this thread, but that would entail gutting a practically factory new unmolested unicorn.

I will probably list it for sale within the next 5 years, as so it can either become part of someone's collection, or they can enjoy it and drive it.

Hey- you never know- maybe Jay Leno would want it! LOL!

You know the gm folks that want a "ute" here in the states somehow import the shell of an Aussie model.
They then use a US model SS or cop car for registration purposes. I think they cut out the firewall on the ute and replace everything in the engine compartment with the US parts.
I imagine any VIN stampings on the cars are also swapped.
This converts the car to left hand drive and makes most of the parts available here for service down the road.
So import the 300 as a parts car, then replace everything on the US donor car with the Aussie parts, register it of course with US VIN.
I'd think it would be cheaper to import as a parts car that you weren't planning to register anyway.
I guess if you could pay a broker down there to strip the car for you, it might make it even cheaper shipping-wise.
Wonder if a Chrysler dealer in OZ could come up with a parts kit with all the unique parts, might be worth pricing it that way.
Of course it'd really be cool if it could be drop-shipped from somewhere in north america!
